IMO the talent gap is overrated. Talent still has to perform. Penalties and turnovers have costs us success far more than anything else since Nutt was here. I’m hopeful Silverfield’s attention to minor details changes the culture.

Sigh

Pro Football Focus is just one metric, but LB Ben Bogle was their highest rated defender. He made the most out of his 12 snaps. None of the offensive lineman graded well. Bryant Williams really struggled in blocking for the run. 19 defensive players got more than 10 snaps. 26 of the Hogs 35 passing attempts were 0-10 yard passes. Charlie Collins was the highest rated pass rusher.

Not sure what we’re going for on offense. Our O-line got out physicaled by a directional school. They seemed decent at pass protection. Our QB stuggles on anything downfield and we have no playmakers at WR.

So we can’t run the ball and there’s no vertical pass threat.

How is it false equivalency?

Pittman’s first year: 3 SEC wins

I was agreeing with you and speaking to other posts. I don't agree that Silverfield is not a good coach or will be lucky to win 1 game because that remains to be seen.

It is false equivalence to expect the same records in the first year of two different coaches because the initial conditions are different, especially given Pittman's first was the oddball Covid season. So while I agreed with the original post, I think this one is less well-reasoned.

my high school coach once said "We are small, slow, but to make up for it we can't shoot worth a damn"

the variation I heard was, “we’re slow and weak but we make up for it by being extremely stupid”
