The person you quoted was pushing to make it a "list"

Quinerly: 8 for his last 19
Griffen: 6 for his last 16

That's 42% for Quinerly and 37.5% for Griffen!

It's really just Sears and Clowney (along with Welch until last night) that have been struggling behind the arc.

I think they were just pointing out that JQ and Griffen have been hot lately after rough starts while Clowney and Sears have gone cold after having a lot of success.

Teams don’t uniformly stay hot shooting. That’s why you try to keep enough shooters around that at least one of them is hitting em.

Last years team was not a cohesive unit. That team had potential but it never materialize. If JQ does not get hurt in the beginning of the tournament game, I think we win that game. That team missed JQ.

Let's not revise history here, we were brutal down the stretch and getting bounced wasn't surprising at all. I think a lot of us (not trying to speak for anyone else) were happy to make the tournament but excited to get to the offseason as well. It was pretty clear a locker room purge was needed.

Not revising history. This is one of many continuous posts about JQ in reference of his play last year, so you're kind of behind on the relevance of the post.

My bad. I see it now.

We really need Sears to get going. What struck me looking at his stats when he transferred was how slump resistant he was last season. Pretty much 1-3, 2-5 or 2-4 every single game.

Along with other issues mentioned last year, it also seemed like too many players where either going to shoot 7-15 or 1-15 with no in-between from 3 point range over any three game stretch.

Last year was really weird. We looked great early in the year with the wins over Gonzaga and Houston and you thought we could beat anybody in the country. And then right after the Houston game it’s like something happened and we never got that team on the floor again

Next 3 games are

@ Oklahoma
Vandy
@LSU

should be able to get Burnett, and Welch healthier and get some of our shooters out of their slumps hopefully. Would be nice to be hitting on all cylinders when we play @Auburn then @Tennessee back to back coming up.

Honestly I'm pretty encouraged by last night in the grand scheme of things. Everything in that game was pointing to a loss with about 15 minutes left. We came out flat, they were energized. They were playing downhill on offense and we were a step slow. We weren't making shots. Every time we went on a small run they blunted it with a few big shots. And yet, we just kept grinding even though shite wasn't working and eventually wore them down and then finished it off.

People don't understand what JQ brings to the table and a lot of folks don't like to hear the TRUTH.

JQ can break anybody down in the country and get to the rim and finish with either hand. JQ puts constant PRESSURE on the defense. He can score at all three levels and it showed last night.

Jaden Bradley doesn't have the incredible handle nor is he a shooter or crafty finisher like JQ but JB is a bigger guard who's SMARTER than all our guards. He has old school guard skills!!

Mark Sears is a better shooter/scorer than JQ but his biggest FLAW is that he has NO RIGHT HAND period. He's a dam good defensive player & rebounder for his size.

In order for this engine to really run shoot we need JQ at his BEST because he UNLOCKS so much in our offense.

By the way, I love all our guards because they all bring something different to the table!

Yeah, this team has a lot of grit. I don't think any of the Grant, Gottfried, or Avery teams could have performed like that. Does Oats still do the army boot camp thing? These guys are mentally tough.

Why are we seemingly underreporting this year? Find me 3500 empty seats

Interesting observation as more than one person mentioned this ‘under reporting’ to me last night. I’m still processing this but went back through the UA reported average attendance. I’m guessing they shifted from tickets sold to tickets scanned after Byrne arrived? Still - chopping off 3,000 tickets sold (@$30 each) = $90,000 per game on average?

The conspiracy theory is it’s being under reported to justify a substantially smaller arena. I’d like to see a ‘tickets sold to tickets scanned’ to see if that is where we’re seeing this drop off.

2015-16 13,158
2016-17 11,948
2017-18 13,391 <- Byrne to Bama
2018-19 10,224
2019-20 10,648
2020-21 2,053 (<-Covid: reduced allowed attendance)
2021-22 10,953
2022-23 10,398

I disagree that Bradley isn't a crafty finisher. He's got a lot of moves around the rim and I think he finishes at a high percentage. He's not a confident, quick release shooter like the other two but his stroke isn't awful looking. I definitely agree that he is a smart player. I think that he does a good job of changing gears on offense. His handle isn't flashy but I think it's pretty strong. He's not undersized or weak at all.

I agree that having all three is great. Oats loves having two on the floor anyways. I can't recall a better group of PGs on an alabama roster.

Bradley uses angles better than the rest to get by people and you are right because he's had tough crafty finishes in a couple of games now that I think back on it.

Alabama has allowed 70 points or less 16 out of their 20 games this season.

For reference Alabama only did this 10 times all season last year and 16 times all season in their Sweet Sixteen run in 2020-2021.

I emailed UA athletics about the tickets for hoops, scanned vs sold? and if there was a change, when was it?

I doubt they respond but we will see.

Oh yeah I agree. I am just glad to get the W. It was a pretty ugly game to watch though, thats basically miss states style, to try to make the games as ugly as possible and hopefully win on defense and toughness.
