Absolutely agree, and I think it did last year for him.

I dunno, JQ was pretty bad last year. It's possible we beat Notre Dame, but just as possible the game plays out the exact same way. We'd been awful the last 2 weeks of the season.

Barely beat State at home, gave up 90 to UK in a loss, barely beat Vandy at home, got hammered by A&M at home, lost @ LSU, lost to Vandy in the tournament

I wonder if we will ever get any kind of detailed explanation for why last year's team was the way it was. I mean we know about the defensive breakdowns and all that, but Oats was constantly on them about effort, saying guys were more concerned with playing for scouts than playing to win, practice always seemed to be approached like an unwelcome chore, etc. Not that it really matters anymore, but it would satisfy my curiosity about who the driving forces were behind all that.

Check this out NBA scouts. He's obviously not any good. Ignore him completely.

Yea, I think everyone saw the physical flaws and they just were what they were (defensive, depth, talent on wings). That limited them.

However, Oats continuously did and still does talk about external stuff (the scouts, effort, no leaders). I do specifically wonder what the "scouts/worrying about self" stuff was and who it was. I think we all assume it was Shack, but I do wonder if Ellis falls into that boat a little as well. And even JQ, for that matter.

Either way, there was clearly a combination of no leadership, physical flaws and a general lack of team hunger with that bunch last year. Everyone saw it, Oats couldn't fix it and it made him almost lose his mind.

To be honest, outside of his last 5 minute stretch, he and Bediako were pretty brutal last night. Bediako occasionally has these games where he can't catch cold and plays weak and unfocused basketball, but Clowney seemed pretty disengaged for the first time last night. I honestly wondered if he was sick or something until he turned it on.

Does that mean he hasn’t hit one since that clutch 3 against Arkansas? If so, I’m pretty proud of my memory because in the 2nd half last night after he missed another one I told my dad that I was pretty sure he hasn’t hit one since the Arkansas game

Yea it was really rough. Pringle saved our arse with his play the last 10 minutes of the 1st half or that might have ballooned to 15 or 20 as lost as we were on offense and as badly as their bigs were whopping Chuck/Noah down low.

Yep - they said on the broadcast his last 3 was in the Arkansas game.

And he still had the confidence to jack one up early in the shot clock up 3 late in the game

Live by the cold blooded confidence, die bye it I guess.

Edey elbows Hunter Dickinson in the mouth and knocks out 3 of his teeth. The college basketball world rejoices because Hunter Dickinson is vanilla Draymond and has it coming. Juwan Howard tries to fight Matt Painter in the post-game handshake line. Looking forward to it.

One major factor in last year's collapse was fatigue. They simply hit the wall. Exhaustion also played a part in the attitude issues. When your dog tired and the coach keeps criticizing your effort it affects your attitude. That same issue may be showing up now and this year's team. Virtually everything that coach talked about in the interview linked below can be explained by fatigue.

LINK

I think coach needs to lighten up in practice to let them get their legs back under themselves . There's no point in getting into a serious debate about it now, all we have to do is just watch for the next two or three weeks and we'll know.

Also, just my opinion, but it wouldn't entirely shock me to see more of an even split between Pringle and Bediako before the end of the season. Not a hit on Bediako, but Pringle has looked very good recently. He just needs to work on defending without fouling.

"A few Alabama players have been trending in completely opposite directions from beyond the arc.

Clowney: 0 for his last 16
Sears: 2 for his last 17
Quinerly: 8 for his last 19
Griffen: 6 for his last 16 "

The person you quoted was pushing to make it a "list"

Quinerly: 8 for his last 19
Griffen: 6 for his last 16

That's 42% for Quinerly and 37.5% for Griffen!

It's really just Sears and Clowney (along with Welch until last night) that have been struggling behind the arc.

Do any of our football players ever go to the games?

One of my friends sons who attends UA said you have to get there really early to get in as a student now. I doubt most of them want to deal with it or sit in the top 5 rows.

Purdue might drop one in the next few weeks (KenPom win percentage)

@Michigan (69%)
Michigan State (81%)
Penn State (83%)
@Indiana (55%)

If people care about us getting ranked #1, our next 4 is easier
