I've seen him post screenshots, wiht names and identifying info redacted, of people taht are absolutley unhinged talking shite to him. I have no problem with that

calling employers of people who have disagreed with him

never heard that one. That would obviously be crossing a line but that seems a bit far fetched..

parallels are they have been very successful at building a brand, making a lot of people trust them, and creating the dynamic that pushing back at all is questioning the science. They both have an unhealthy obsession about their public perception and being a celebrity

I disagree with those parallels, and there's a couple massive differences to boot. That's neither here nor there though.

I guess I just don't really see him as a pot stirrer or instigator in the limited time I've been exposed to him.

Da fook are you talking about? Dude is an imbecile. He licks his finger, sticks it in his arse and then puts his finger in their air.

Or sticks it in first, then licks his finger.
Either way… he is an idiot with suspenders that knows nothing about the weather. He bitched the tornado in 2011.

It used to be worse. He would post screenshots without the names and it would be the less unhinged takes. Then the hoards of followers would pounce.

It has happened. 100% fact. (Not me by the way. LOL)

For sure, he’s not on Fauci’s level. But he’s just as good at making the “Get in there and make it about you” meme a reality. Honestly, I’m not anti-science or anything like that but I do think the TV Met industry has become too focused on engagement and promoting “Severe Weather Alert” days that feed the “We’re cancelling out of an abundance of caution” culture that too often harms small businesses even though there isn’t a drop of rain or a flake of snow. Spann is the face of that around here.

Anyway, let’s get back to the game since it looks like the forecast is more favorable. Sorry to derail.

You will not have hurricane force winds during the game. It's going to be well inland and dying out.

At this point it looks like shifting kickoff back an hour might be the best option for safety but I think they’ll just roll with 630

all I know is that every time I've emailed Spann a neat nature photo I've taken, he always replies back and is very nice. He usually will post the picture on fb, or insta too.

I think game time is ok. It’s just folks driving in, especially from the East, Gameday, etc.

What about residual lighting? That could make things a mess.

That’s why they need to move Kick back to 8 IMO

This isn’t a political statement but at this point I hope Trump decides to stay in DC. Way too many other things for officials in Tuscaloosa to worry about outside of that.

This is the best idea of all!!!! He doesn't need to come and be yet another distraction!!

Any word on what Gameday is doing? We should know now if this is being moved indoors.

Spann said this morning in his morning weather briefing video that the weather for game time should be fine and that he felt confident about that. Furthermore, the risk of isolated tornadoes is currently east of Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa is not included in the tornado risk area defined by the Storm Prediction Center.

Like I said yesterday, the question becomes whether there are widespread power outages and damage (trees and power lines down) that would disrupt the game. Tailgating is gonna be a a no-go and College Gameday will probably have to be moved into Coleman or something.

The 4am update moved it about 40 miles back to the west. From what I can tell it’s going to curl to the west some about the time it hits. A few weather guys are thinking the same. Don’t think that distance matters much though.

4am today

10 am report yesterday
