You’re right. I’m taking a big step back from caring about this. Whatever happens that’s fine.

Absolutely. All of this stuff right now is meaningless. We won't have any semblance of an idea of how anything is going to look until the end of next football season.

The players coming to get prepared to go to NFL im fine with...but you cant dispute that those players developed a love of the program and a fraternity that lived past their playing days. This same thing was true even before Saban. Shaun Alexander was from Kentucky, not Birmingham. I just heard Roman Harper in a casual interview talking about how he didnt grow up a Bama fan. He is a huge supporter of the program now. We dont need Hawaii's best players to have an Alabama standard level program.

I think the realization that school administrations sold out everything that made CFB special to make themselves rich is the most bitter pill to swallow

I wonder who was around when Alabama went 4-7 in 97’ , or 3-8 in 2000 or 4-9 in 2003?

I remember when Danny Woodson was my quarterback.

My goals from now through the start of spring ball are as follows:

Round out the staff with strong hires.

Minimal losses on the front 7 on defense.

Keep the running back room in tact.

Add Muhammad and an OL, preferably one who can snap the ball.

Make some decent in roads in recruiting.

Do that, get spring ball started and see what we can do in the portal.

All of this. They had years and years to get in front of this shite but instead of throwing the athletes a bone they decided to horde their gold like a dragon until the court system stepped in and nuked college sports.

I expected a few guys to leave but not this many starters, however I'm not gonna overreact and say the dynasty is over. We have enough depth at certain areas to field a damn good team and this year begins the 12 team playoffs so our margin for error is bigger than last year.

I think it’s different with Saban. Kids came here to play for the goat. He’s leaves and they have doubts about the new staff. Turnover is going to happen going forward but this is an unprecedented situation.

Yeah and we got the goat discount too.

Well now that he's gone, maybe we're all finding out how little we can afford to pay.

Maybe we're not the big dick NIL swingers we thought we were.

Exactly, they opened the door for the courts. They started the monetization of fan support. Started with negotiating huge TV deals while allowing for ever increasing commercial time. Then it was tickets, parking...and tailgating all $$$$...then it was megaconferences that made no sense geographically.

Hell the revenue from licensing the video games...every dime should have been shared to the players

Anyone that comes on here expecting not to see people come here and vent this month are out of touch with their audience, and possibly reality.

Some people need a release, why can’t this place be it?

Maybe logging off til spring is advice that can apply to anyone who doesn’t like what is being posted. Swings both ways, free speech and all.

And for the record. I’m pumped about the hires and the upcoming season. I think we are in a great position to weather this storm and start a new era. This change is temporary and Byrne crushed this hire.

When I went to Alabama I had a choice between Alabama & Coach Bryant, Arkansas & Coach Holtz, Auburn & Coach Dye. My Chances of paying early were best at Arkansas then Auburn Then Alabama. I chose Alabama because of Alabama first and I grew up wanting to play for Coach Bryant.

Bryant stepped down, Ray Perkins came in. I went to the team meetings. I was not a front line player, I had worked my arse off for Steve Hale, Ken Donahue, and Coach Bryant. I was going to be starting over. I had a decision to make. I was also working toward my degree in engineering (not fun). I did not like Ray Perkins based on initial meetings. I chose to be a student, Alabama came before the coach and my degree was more important to me. I chose me and my degree.

I have been where alot of these kids are. In the end, they have to choose what is most important to them. I am not part of that choice. I made the choice Boz and many others are making right now. What is most imortant to me. I however got to make that choice 40 years ago and then again 7 years ago. Alabama football is entertainment for me. The University of Alabama is pride to me. These kids are just actors in the play.

Ok, let me rephrase then, in the name of free speech.

Anybody posting that they are done rooting for Alabama or that this is the end of the world and there is no reason to keep paying attention to college football because it's been a bad 48 hours is acting like a little bitch who needs to stop being so emotional.

Free speech, two way street. Everyone is entitled to their sky screams and the rest of us are entitled to tell them to shut the frick up and quit acting like spoiled bitches who just had the daddy fund cut off and were kicked out into the real world for the first time.

If you actually listened to Saban talk about NIL, I don't think he pushed it as much as others because he knows how it's being used is not the way it was intended to be used.

I’ve said before, this is the natural outcome when something turns into a zillion dollar business and the people who are actually putting their asses on the line are expected to be satisfied with tuition, books, room, board, etc.

In a weird way...im looking forward to the future. The best win I ever experienced wasnt a Saban game...it was the 05 UT game where Bama broke the streak. Ive never seen the fans that ecstatic ever. Hell University Blvd spontaneously shut down and became a block party. Its fun being the underdog
sometimes. The 99 season, despite some wild losses, was one of my top 5 favorite seasons(I was a kid then)

My apologies SOG, I think I misunderstood your initial point, and I completely agree with your last post.

I think DeBoar is going to be a real success here given a few seasons, and I believe his coordinator hires are going to be the best we have had since Sark and Pruitt. I’m actually shocked that people aren’t happier.
