Listen, I'm as disappointed as anyone about Sayin leaving, but let's quit acting like Mack is a lowly three-star QB.

He was a consensus 4* as only a JUNIOR (he reclassified). Chances are that if he played his Senior year in HS, he may have been ranked even higher.

With that said, I'd still prefer to have Sayin over Mack

Put yourself in Sayin’s shoes here.

I don't think I can really do that because I am not Julian Sayin. However, one of my favorite past times I liked to engage in when I was playing sports was proving my coaches wrong about me.

Sayin tidbit from Watts by RollTide1987
IF Sayin was run off by a lowly three-star QB then that tells me a lot about the kid's competitive spirit.

EXACTLY. Let him go. Next man up. Get a grip y'all....

Talty is a cuck but he is being pretty adamant on 247 that he’s close to this particular situation and Sayin was more or less encouraged to look around. Mack wasn’t brought in because Sayin was leaving. He’s saying Sayin intended to stick it out, which makes sense given the timing of the other entries. I would think we’re close to peaking on exits.

It’s a pretty big gamble to hitch your wagon to though, because if he goes elsewhere and lights it up and we struggle at the position, the heat will get cranked up.

I posted this in another thread yesterday, but IMO it's also relevant here.

At some point someone probably asked, "Why would Jalen Hurts (2016) come here with the nation's No. 1-ranked (2015) pocket-passer Blake Barnett and overall No. 3-ranked (2014) David Cornwell in the QB room?"

You just never know, man.

Maybe Sayin was the next big-time dude and we just missed out. Maybe he was the next Blake Barnett or David Cornwell.

We really don’t even know if KD/RG would prefer to have someone who can run their particular offense, or alternatively prefer to adjust their play calling to fit someone’s existing skill set.

No one knows anything right now.

So let me make sure I understand.

Here, I'll help. What's the most important position on offense? Is it easier to teach a qb a NEW system or have one that has already been in that system. I'm sure DeBoer and Grubbs will give every qb a fair and equal chance to take the job. But it sure is nice having one that can do the job if all the others fail.

Mack is arguably the most talented QB on the roster now. I’m not even trying to be that guy, but I’m not joking.

If he didn’t reclassify he’s arguably a 5 star as a senior. DeBoer is super high on him. Y’all need to calm down.

DeBoer put 2 QBs in the NFL in 4 years. He put a Fresno State QB in. Chill out.

I think 129/130 programs would probably take Sayin. Is our coach just smarter than everyone else? I hope so.

All signs point to him believing he is. Lol

Kicking the #1 QB in America out in favor of your Pacific Northwest pet ain’t a good choice IMO

Why do we think he was “kicked out”

Mack already knows the offense and can play right now. Sayin would have to either sit or year or go through the freshman growing pains.

You sound like the people calling for Buckner to start because he knew Rees. Lol

And here we go!
CKD, and his new offensive coaching staff know a TON more than we do about Mack, plus we don't know if Sayin wasn't gonna leave to begin with (very thin at WR). All this "doubters talk" is only going to stir the pot for all our opponents. We owe it to this team and coaching staff to give them a chance to prove themselves this coming season, THEN start all the bitching IF we're not satisfied.

Because Tim Watts said he was. No reason for Tim to lie about it.

We don’t owe this coaching staff anything. They haven’t done anything for us yet.

Not sure about any of that, but people do need to do themselves a favor and check out his game video. He's huge, feels the pocket and moves really well for a kid his size, and he's got a rocket arm with a nice quick release. He can play. People acting like he's a bum are just angry for the sake of being angry.

This is an old, antiquated way of thinking about shite like this.
