What is with this rumor that Golding notified Saban after the Iron Bowl he didn't want to return? I just heard that today on a YouTube show.

Doesn't sound likely, does it? Hard to believe he would pass up another year at that salary (he could get another job, but probably not at that pay).

So he said next DC? Did he even interview? I would think it would be hard to keep the fact he was on campus a secret.

Yes, He said next DC. I have no idea about an interview though, and I doubt Saban needed a formal in person interview.

Pruitt gonna punch Golding in the face for some of his stupid calls.

If he could do this on the sideline, it would be greatly appreciated. That slack-jawed drunk would drop like a bag of flour.

Pruitt said it over a meal to former players.
When would Pruitt be meeting with former players? Was this an informal deal or like an alumni function?

I'll believe it when I see it. I wouldn't trust him any farther than I could throw him.

Look, we all know he's the best DC in college football. We also all know that when he isn't actually coaching defense on a football field, he's dumber than a box of rocks.

I believe Pruitt named one of his kids after Reuben Foster. So, Pruitt could've have had some former players over at his house.

Wrong.

You probably meant to say, "If Pruitt gets hit with a show cause and Alabama hires him, Alabama is subject to NCAA sanctions for the mere act of hiring him."

They just hit x Bama coach Mark Gottfried with a three year show cause 2 weeks ago.

My point was that if Alabama simply hires Pruitt before the NCAA can levy sanctions on the Tennessee hatchet job, the NCAA will not show-cause him because they don't want to fight blue blood schools and major conferences too much right now. The NCAA is trying to thread the needle such that they're still around in a meaningful capacity in a decade. They're not going to poke the bear.

With that in mind, Gottfried is expired as relevant coaching talent and was jobless at any rate.

No way Saban is interviewing coaches right before a bowl game.

Why would Saban need to interview Pruitt? He's already worked with him at Bama, what would the point of an interview be?

There's no need to do interview with Pruitt.

other coaches does it by phone and then fly in to see Saban. WE haven't heard that yet.

Not interview in a traditional sense but there has to be communication between the two more than a “hey, you wanna come work for me again” type phone call. Pruitt’s comments suggest it’s a done deal where as usually there’s been news leaked saying “interest has been expressed” then a couple weeks later these type of comments are made. To me, and this is just me, the odds of Saban reaching out to Pruitt, and Pruitt entertaining then responding to Saban, then Pruitt telling former coaches and the only part of that that ever leaked was the luncheon comment is rare.

Again it’s just me and I hope I’m completely wrong

Lets get one thing clear, Saban has FULL control of that program. If we don't get Pruitt back, its 100% Saban's fault because he has chosen Golding over Pruitt and that would be a BAD decision....The biggest thing standing in the way of Pruitt coming back is Saban getting over his man-love with Golding, realizing Golding sucks, and having the balls to can him. Not one of Saban's strong traits. Its all very simple, Pruitt needs a job and he was the best DC Saban ever had. Now make it happen ..........As for Pruitt getting clearance, I wouldn't give a damn what the NCAA thought, they are a toothless/declawed tiger.
