Because they’re more details that have to be hammered out than “you want to work for me?” Pay, incentives, job details, etc. That’s common knowledge. Would you accept a job without knowing the details? No. And a discussion has to happen to hammer out details.

Someone should tell Pete. He is apparently unaware.

So tired of this FUBAR situation. It's not rocket science. Someone sucks at their job, can their arse and find someone better. There is no benefit for the team or him to keep him around.

You're really overthinking this. It could be as easy as, "Hey Jeremy, want to come back and be DC/ILB coach?" - "Sure Nick, that would be great. Send the proposed contract to Jimmy and he'll hammer out the details with the athletic dept."

That’s the discussion I’m talking about. It’s not one phone call and done as I said before.

I just would be glad for it to happen, however they want to do.

FTR I’m not giving you the downvotes. It’s just discussion.

It's possible that Peter doesn't know for real. It could all depends on whether Saban can find someone to replace him. I still think Golding could come back as DC, but Pruitt could be hired as a co DC /LB and Golding moves to Safties.

Either way, we should hear the news soon.

Everyone just needs to be patient until after the bowl game tomorrow.

i think it would be waykool if right before the first cfp game tomorrow, saban announced the hiring of some hot shot oc. then right before game 2, he announced pruitt as dc.

What if his top candidates for OC and DC were playing in those games? I read that Georgia Tech lost the top candidate for their Head Coach position a couple of weeks ago because they mentioned his name too soon.

I would hope the top candidates are at least out of school.

I meant the teams they coach were playing, of course.
ETA: Like Garrett Riley or Glenn Schumann.

True. But patience has never been my strong suit. And whatever patience I have ran out a long time ago regarding Golding. We have suffered long enough, watching our defense lose its identity and having to watch Kirby Smart turn Georgia's defense into BAMA. UGA's defense is big, fast and intimidating. All the things our D used to be known and feared for. It's high time we bring in a DC who can return our defense to the Alabama Standard. Pruitt, whatever his faults may be, is just the person to do that.

Completely agree. Hopefully Saban is at a point where he knows he has to make a decision. Like when Tosh wasn't working out as DC. Lupoi was a great position coach and an ace recruiter, but Saban had to replace him and he did. I just hope he makes a change for the better this time: Pruitt.

ON the NS show and at other times he has been very complimentary of the job the DC is doing. I doubt he gets canned or demoted. Pruitt may come in but as an assistant HC or something like that and coach safeties

Pruitt being on staff and not coaching LBs would be an absolute travesty

Saban doesn't fire his staff, he relocates them internally or finds them other coaching opportunities. My proposal if PG isn't moving elsewhere:
- Pruitt DC and ILB coach;
- Golding assistant HC and safeties coach.

Nothing less than a new DC tells me Saban approves of the job Golding is doing. Its a new DC or Saban rides out his last years with a terrible hairy drunk as his DC. I don't want to hear the tears. Saban did it to himself.......If I was Pruitt, I couldn't be under Goldings command as an assistant and watch him run the defense into the ground.
