Paul Tyson... He's the qb to watch this year

This big qb is the one to watch this year. I think he's the competition for bryson. Reports are that he's accurate, strong, and ready to roll. I think he'll be a good one and he's bear bryant's great grandson.
I catch alot of flack because I haven't fallen for the hype on bryson. I'll remind you that I caught hell for saying mac attack was coming. Nobody believed me, but I was calling it at the end of last year.
We'll see how it turns out. Like I said before, if I'm wrong I'll say I'm wrong.

I would be shocked if he beats out Bryce or even Jalen for that matter

I heard PT would probably never be much more than a scout team QB.
I hope that info is wrong.

He’ll beat out Jalen. Don’t have such decency bias. His entire highschool offense was basically some form of variation of the Kiffin/Locksley/Sarkisian system.
He should be more familiar with Alabama’s offense than Bryce or Jalen on a fundamental level.

No one saw Mac Jones coming either, but admittedly someone like that doesn't come along often.
Gary Hollingsworth comes to mind from many years ago, thrown out there and performed at a high level, and maybe you could include Jake Coker to some extent.
Tyson will get a look,we will see. He needs to be ready, as recent history has shown us. They must have some confidence in him, they only signed one and didn't push hard for a transfer or another freshman.

It's a very thin QB room...they'd all better be ready to roll.

His name is Bryce. Bryson Young played at Oregon.

What does this have to do with playing the best qb?

Trussville HS offense was more like Mike Leach (Air Raid) then the RPO scheme that Alabama runs.

Except that Bryce already beat him out for the backup spot, I would live to take part in your fantasy.

I think people are dismissing him prematurely, but I don't know if he'll ever be the starter or not.
And not everyone was sleeping on Mac Jones, for what it's worth.

Anything is possible but the odds of Tyson winning the job aren't in his favor. The only 2 QBs to ever start in the Saban era with out taking a snap in a previous season were Jalen Hurts and Blake Barnett in 2016. He got beat out by Young for the back up role with no spring practice. Honestly my money is on Stone Hollenbach.
I think what is interesting is if Tualia had stuck around at Bama how the competition would have looked. He would have been coming into his 3rd year in the system plus his time at Thompson. I think he would have had a more realistic shot of competing for the starting job than Tyson. Win or lose he is probably up for a grad transfer prior to 2022 season and would have additional options at that point. No offense to Locks and Enos but even as a backup another year with Sark and a year will Bill O'Brien sounds like a better deal along with a degree especially since he would have 3 years of eligibility. Of course Bryce is probably out if Lia wins the job so there would have been that. Hindsight is 20/20 though.

Of course we did. Those of us who saw scrimmages knew Mac was legit.
No one knew he would be a Heisman finalist, but plenty of us thought he was underrated, and had the potential to do well.

I happened to see Tyson a good bit in high school, and a big mystery to me is, frankly, how bad he looked when he got to Alabama.
I don't know if he got overwhelmed, or confused, or what, but the reports seem to indicate that he's doing much better now.
Hopefully he's got that behind him and we can root for him to continue to improve and do well, whatever his roll going forward might be.

This was (or would have been) true last year as well, and yet he didn't sniff the field and Bryce was the #2.

Hindsight is 50/50. You dope!

Bryce Young never flashed last like Tua did and frankly looked overmatched at the same point Tua was beating UGA for a NC.
Bryce Young also never had spring camp, had half the functional game snaps and was also supposedly somewhat injured.
I’d say Bryce is the favorite, but I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion like some people think.

Yeah it kinda is though.

It’s unfortunate that this is the benchmark for Alabama fans now. A lot of our backup QB’s have not looked good in mop up duty, yet went on to be great. But now we have to compare everybody to Tua
