I say let's just move Golding to OC. He definitely knows how to torch a defense

Unbelievable that Sark would take that gig given that Saban has bailed his arse out a couple of different times now.

Even in a shitty season, we still lose coordinators.

State is running out of options. If Grantham (their supposed new target) turns them down, Sark may be the last man standing. It’s like they are playing musical chairs and Sark doesn’t have a seat.

Hopefully Grantham gets/takes the job and Bama can have an OC for more than 1 season.

it's actually totally rational to me. You know he wants to be a head coach again, and even Miss State can be an opportunity to prove himself and move on to another program. Mullen did it. Who knows. Sarkisian may prove to be a very good head coach and return to UA when Saban retires. Assuming, of course, this happens. I kid of figured it would the first time I read that Miss. State was considering him after being turned down by their targeted guys.

If he goes to MSU I hope he takes Butch with him.

An "insider" at Elite Dawgs

Apparently it's still Napier this morning.

quote:

I am still here. Talks definitely broke down between Cohen and Napier last night. My post calling out to Dellenger was basically a bat signal to see if things could be salvaged, and he confirmed they could not.

The Sarkisian stuff leaked about 30 minutes after talks broke down with Napier.

If State makes one final push this morning and agrees to the original terms that were agreed in principle this weekend (with no amendments), then Napier is still coming.

My best understanding is that talks broke down over the S&C position (and his roles), the staff salaries of 5.8 mil, and the housing allowance request of $1,000,000.

I will accept my permaban if Sark is announced, but nothing is done yet. All it will take is one phone call that agrees with what I have listed in the fourth paragraph above to close the deal.

Other board saying Sark had already told them he wasn't interested, but they may have come back with a more lucrative offer

Looking like Sark is about to take the State job.

Another off-season and Bama is looking for another OC. This is getting old.

Actually looks the opposite from what I read from T-Watts and others, unless something came out in the last 90 seconds.

Sark’s history with “fluid situations” is not good.

Why can’t we ever man the frick up and try to keep someone? I’m sure coach knows it’s difficult to sustain a certain level of success/standard with constant coaching turnover, why keep letting it happen? Yes, it is getting old.

He would get a better job offer if he stayed here a year or two more. State is a job you either get fired from or win 7-8 games a year and get a better gig. He will get a better gig staying here for a year or two.

I mean if guys weren't leaving for promotions then I would understand this reaction. Also, we don't know what is going on, for all we know we could be making Sark a lucrative offer to stay.

But when we hire former head coaches who want to be head coaches again, I don't think we should be surprised when they jump ship. That's just part of it.

I am pissed Sark is even considering this. I get that he wants another head coach job somewhere but the deal was you give Alabama a couple of years of stability. Now he’s not only reneging on that, he’s doing it for the backwater career killer of StarkVegas in direct competition with the guy that salvaged his career. All he has to do is say no thanks, turn in one more good year at Bama and you can have a shot at other better jobs, probably closer to the West coast where he’s from.
