Another thing. Sark and Kiffin have seen their friend and former coworker who wasn't even a coordinator, Ed Orgeron, have success in the SEC. Man, you know both of those guys think they can coach circles around Orgeron and they can have success in the SEC too.

Agreed. My only caveat would be that with Sark's track record he probably only gets one more chance at being a HC at a power 5 program. Why risk it at clanga? You'd think he'd be very careful in choosing where he takes his last shot.

Why is this?? Does Dabo have pictures of them with the proverbial dead girl or live boy??

I agree completely. I wouldn't take the MSU job. There will be other SEC jobs to open soon like I think South Carolina will open soon and while not an SEC job I think Miami will open soon.

If Sark leaves, I hope he doesn't, who do you think we go after for OC?

Apparently Sark talked to them in the coaches break. In the mean time MSU
went after Napier...got turned down.
Went after Judge...he took the NFL job
Went after Napier again...turned it down a 2nd time.

People are saying that if Sark was offered, it was tonight.

Imagine Bama will counter and we'll see what happens tomorrow.

He got fired from USCw and labeled a drunk. Saban took him in and gave him a shot. He bailed on Bama and went to Atlanta and subsequently bombed out. Saban gives him another chance. So, now he’s going to bail to coach at fricking Mississippi State? Either this info is wrong or Sark is back on the Cutty Sark and Saban wants him the frick out.
If Sark takes this job it’s going to make it infinitely more
difficult to live in MS as a Bama fan.

Edit - this just chaps my arse - I started a thread on this the other night bc my State friends were giving me shite about it. frick me if this comes to pass. I’ve always rooted for those poor sons of bitches when they weren’t playing Bama. At a slight wiff of them taking our OC they turn into LSU fans.

Why are our coaches always poached?
Frankly, I'm tired of it

It’s kind of remarkable to me that Saban is looked at as the engine of our program, yet his assistants get poached every damn year.

Meanwhile Orgeron & Dabo ride on the shoulders of their coordinators, yet they will probably have little, if any turnover this year outside of Clemson’s Co-OC.

It’s mind boggling and extremely frustrating at the same time.

Seems the MSU mods think it’s a done deal.. but they thought that about Napier and then Judge. I haven’t heard anything solid on the ground here though as far as a deal taken place.. I do know he did indeed interview and there has been on going conversation with his agent and State. I do know the fan base here wants him and the boosters are vocal to Cohen that the hire would be approved and seen as a win. That enough scares me because Cohen is fighting for his job with this next hire. I think Cohen really wants Grantham but is hesitant due to the mixed fan base on him. He is scraping after the two misses and seems to be desperate to get a hire to calm the masses calling for his head now. I really hope Sark doesn’t make this jump this quick.. 1 year after we bring him back is a bad look. And to be honest.. a west coast guy won’t last forever in MS as you know.

Yea I can’t see him putting together a great staff and him having no ties to the South won’t work long term. Not many Cali kids coming to MSU

Sark was a Power 5 head coach at two well respected programs. If Sark is going to be in college football it stands to reason he wants to be a head coach again. Sark may have told Saban he'd stick around for a while but I don't even think Saban would expect Sark to turn down a Power 5 head coaching job to remain his OC. Lastly, coaching on the Power 5 level is strictly business. These coaches are looking out for themselves.

I think you could reasonably expect him to turn down a P5 job that is a guaranteed failure and HC career ending move. As others have said, look at MSU’s situation and there is no visible path past 5-6 wins for the next several years.

I actually have loved Sark this year, but could you imagine this site if Sark leaves and we hire Joe Brady?

This place would go fricking nuclear.

Is it bad that I want to see it happen just for the Chernobyl level event?

Yet no one is knocking down Pete Golding's door with a HC offer.

Brent Venables is a well known cokehead in the coaching community. No one is giving him a program to run.

Exactly. That right there should tell you if he is a good coach or not.

Oh look another OC to potentially replace, right when our next elite (hopefully) QB is coming in. Wonderful.

Losing Sark would suck. He's a solid OC and a very very good QB coach. At least Bryce signed on the dotted line before he bolted, though.

Did Oklahoma make a run at Golding last year? I thought that was the word.

Granted, it appears no one is doing that this year.
