don’t believe any moves will be made until after 2-1-23, the official National Signing Day. From there, I think we may begin to hear some news of substance.
That’s what Saban normally does. He doesn’t like to shake up signing day. I’m not sure it matters this year though. Almost our entire class is not only signed but enrolled. Lol

I haven't seen anyone mention Jimmy Lake, wasn't Saban looking to hire him in the past?

I don’t think he’s as hot of a name as he was a few years ago. Had on and off field controversy as head coach at Washington, as I recall.

He’s a great coach but he would be a terrible hire. He wants to stay in the north. If he came he’d be a one and done DC.
But bring Pruitt on staff and he can replace Leonard or whoever is hired as DC. Assuming Pruitt would not be until he is in the clear.

For example, Schumann could be waiting until after signing day in order to fulfill his obligation to Kirby
We only have two recruits left and they're both offensive players. I can see where you're coming from but that's not the case for him.

We don’t have a DC right now, it’s not like he’s waiting to fire one. Two of the three candidates listed in the OP are unemployed. I imagine Georgia is like us and signed the vast majority of their class in the early signing period. The February signing day is irrelevant for this discussion.

IB4bama post -- ... Ala compliance could have talked to the ncaa about a Pruitt show cause and found out it was 2 years--which he has already served.
That's what I've been thinking/hoping ever since Boz said he'd heard UA compliance had cleared Pruitt. Bama would keep it quiet until the NCAA answers UT's response (Nov 24) to their NOA (Jan 24 deadline).

has to be fake, but if you google “Greg Roman”, wiki says he’s Bama’s OC.
Wikipedia doesn’t say anything about Bama. Says Roman has been the OC for the Ravens for the last three years. Fairly long career in the pros.

Twitter announced Roman as OC but I have no idea where they are getting that or if it’s from that Wikipedia crap

Yea I don’t know where that’s coming from and I’m sure it won’t happen, BUT it would kinda match what we hear about Saban wanting to get back to a more physical, run first offense.

I think 2020 is the model we should strive for. We would still line up under center some and let a big back run downhill, but our QB was also slinging it.
The last two years Bryce was great, but I do think we were lacking the physicality on offense. Even with Tua it felt like we still ran it quite a bit.
I don’t necessarily want to be “run first” in modern college football, but I definitely want our run game to be more physical with a little more commitment.

Returning to a prevalent RPO scheme like 2020 should be a priority, Mac Jones threw the 3rd most in his draft class off RPO. NFL styled offenses in college are often trying to play chess, when the game is just checkers.
The stress points it causes defenses can open up the offense from varying points, closest thing the 2022 offense had was Jahmyr Gibbs. Wasn't even really scheme(some of the running plays let him down), but it was Gibbs being a RB with the skillset of a WR.

Spent several hours today speaking to sources about the Alabama football coaching staff. Here is what we know: Saban not having named PG’s replacement doesn’t mean he’s not actively pursuing a DC candidate. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes.

Seems like there’s only one name that matters rn. Definitely some i’s being dotted & t’s being crossed. I’m told there’s one more appeal that needs to be made. If/when that appeal is granted is the biggest hold up. Said all that to say I will be very surprised

if Jeremy Pruitt isn’t wearing a headset on the sideline in Tuscaloosa this upcoming season. Some moving pieces on the position coach side of things as well. Will try to post another update tomorrow or Tuesday about position coach changes when I have a little more info.

He's not saying anything new.... It pretty much confirm what we've been thinking all along... It's likely Pruitt.

Have heard the other two candidates mentioned in the OP are not going to be the next DC. Doesn’t necessarily mean Pruitt will be, but the field is narrowing.

Longer this drags out the more it’s Pruitt IMO.

Until something is announced otherwise. I'm betting on Pruitt
