It’s Pruitt or bust for me… but my opinion means nothing

Pruitt is going to be here in some form or fashion. I have to believe that Saban has some confidence that the NCAA's ruling won't preclude him from being our DC, but if they do he'll still be there in some other capacity.

If it’s not Pruitt or Schumann (unlikely on him) I could see Saban going the NFL position coach route like a Ryan Nielsen type hire

This is what I believe... I believe Pruitt will be on staff... But I don't think as DC. Hopefully we will know more by this week.

If Pruitt is cleared by the NCAA he's not going to be anyone's position coach or analyst. The man's resume is too good. He's going to be someone's DC. Pruitt is an elite DC and there are coaches who will fire their present DC to hire him.

My feeling is that since we havent heard much on Pruitt, Ncaa may have issued their response and either Pruitt or Bama is attempting to trying to get him cleared with time served OR possibly contract negotiations between Bama and Pruitt but I would think those would have been at least mostly ironed out already if this much effort been put into it.

Word is some SEC schools are crying to Sankey about us possibly hiring Pruitt.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. But, these schools are hiring guys who have more colorful histories than Pruitt when it comes to being out of bounds morally and ethically. Pruitt giving money to a sick player parent is something that the NCAA doesn't want to be widely publicized because that organization is barely holding on.

this is just it....the ncaa has taken so many hits lately, basically zero institutions are afraid of them! what better way to regain some prestige by not allowing Pruitt to go to Bama? they have always had a hard on for telling Bama no while these other teams go ahead and hire whomever they want and dare the ncaa to pull the plug on it.

Out of Sankey's own mouth there is nothing he, i.e., the SEC office can do about a program hiring a coach. He can advise but that is all - he himself said that. E.g., AU hired Bruce Pearl who was still under a "show cause" verdict at the time.

Even the NCAA cannot prevent it but they can make it difficult for the university who does by imposing various restrictions. And if the coach is under a "show-cause" sanction, the university has to appear before the NCAA to explain their reasons for hiring him and how they are going to handle certain issues.

Agree with all of that but when has Alabama s shown they have the fortitude to do what they want like Auburn has. Like ‘em or hate em Auburn will give the ncaa the finger, sankey the finger and then dare you to do something about it. I admire that.

Some dude posted this on the Rant last night:

That would check out with the rumors that Pruitt was telling people he had the job a little while ago without an announcement happening.

If he's cleared by the conference then get his arse to Tuscaloosa tonight. Don't waste any time and let him start to turn around the pussy attitudes we've had the last 5 years.

He’s one of the lead SI writers that covers Bama. He’s usually on site for basketball and baseball (and is sometimes the only reporter to show up for baseball post game press conferences ).

I don’t view him as a ‘click bait’ type of guy. What caught my attention was it being published on Tide 100.9 - Tuscaloosa’s Bama affiliate. I’m cautiously optimistic.
