Suttles, Fowler and other talking heads don't really have any substantial inside info about what Saban is doing behind the scenes or who's likely to become his new coordinators. They're only speculating.

My new therapist is going to be so pissed having to hear me talk about poor 3rd down defensive production and A gap blitzs if Saban hires Grantham. It will be a rough 7 stages of grief
.

Grantham is better than Lupoi and PG. But, he's reckless in my opinion.

Agreed. He's shown he can coordinate a very good defense with the right pieces. He's also show he can put together an absolute shite show if things arent set up right.
Plus the whole blitz everyone on the team 3x a drive thing.

Grantham calls a good defense on about 7 out of 10 plays, but those other 3 plays are EXPLOSIVE wins for the offense, usually resulting in TD’s.

Well at least Golding conditioned us for this type of defense

To me, hiring Grantham as DC also indicates big issues for the program.
Geez. I hope not but it has popped in my mind.
I thought these hires (this and the OC) would be grand slams. We are now mentioning Granthom and pro QB coach who hasn’t called plays before?
Sheesh. And . . . I mean, it’s February 1st and Bama doesn’t have coordinators. I don’t see how this is a positive thing.

I think that collectively we understand that it is very well possible this is Sabans “last run at it” these coordinators will be here for at least two more years and he is getting on up there. The idea that the possibility of a last run with Grantham is depressing.

iirc, the last go around with hires, somebody reported as surprising as it may be, but cns got turned down by coaches. they didnt say who nor how many but that it was plural. his pool of coaches willing to jump on board may be dwindling, considerably. just wondering out loud

If he hires Grantham, we might as well start writing the obits.

Maybe, but he indicated that his views on the matter are based on what he is hearing from his sources within. I don’t know how strong his sources are, though.

If it's Grantham, it better be one helluva OC hire because they will HAVE to score every possession. And even with Reichard coming back, FGs won't cut it.

I know I'm more of an optimist than most on this board, but as long we have an explosive offense, and even a serviceable defense, we will still be in the title hunt. But with the talent that we have, and the talent that is coming in, I'd think that Grantham would give us a top tier defense.

We do have one already … statistically. This dude will get torched by every quality offense.

He can be aggressive at times

It is fun to speculate and we all have our favorites but I think we will be fine whomever is hired on either side of the ball. We have talent on that side so it won’t be boring . He could do well with what we have to work with
This sounds familiar... oh yeah it is what people were telling me when I was melting over Bill O'Brien being hired two years ago

I didn’t like BOB either for his lack of creativity but if you are being honest , we didn’t lose games bc of BOB. He put up numbers . I guess what I am trying to say is as long as Saban is here , we will be in the hunt. He knows what is needed and will get the best he can. When he leaves, I will get a little more upset about hires

Worst case scenario is that Pruitt comes in as analyst right now and waits to be cleared (and Pruitt will be cleared eventually) and Grantham is basically the interim DC for the season. I could accept that in a worst case scenario.
Let’s not forget why Golding is gone and was sent to the minor league.
We all know Saban wants Pruitt back, just gotta play the game right now with the ncaa.

Sure because he definitely curtained that ball and ran clock against Tenn. He also call tremendous plays in the redzone which creating open players from mismatches.
He definitely didn't rely solely on his QB to make something happen out of nothing from every drop back.
That definitely isn't why we threw an INT on the first drive of that LSU game which ended up being the biggest play of the game.
Sometimes man I wish I could have a face to face with yo u guys
