I think a lot of it is the o-line was below average the first 2 years. We would run cute plays and get poor execution. The growing pains of a rookie Qb, left tackle, and new coaches have caused slow starts so far and people still remember last year.

Booing fans haven't quit. That's not what booing is.

1) I don’t think it’s worth being bent out of shape with Grubb saying “your fans.” Thats just a phrasing issue that I bet he didn’t mean to be that deep.
2) I could see Saban saying something similar to this but in a better way. Grubb just isn’t as polished as Saban. Saban always got on the fans for criticism, rat poison, leaving early, etc.
3) Grubb isn’t Saban and should read the room better. Right or wrong, the OC lecturing paying fans who sat through delays and heat after the offensive performance over the last year isn’t going to hit the way he thinks it would.
4) All this shows that Saban’s policy of not letting coordinators speak was the correct one.

Back in the old days you got the best interviews from the coordinators because they were actual working coaches and you could get a better read of what was going on.
But can you imagine Mal or Ken Donohue (one of the most intimidating SOBs I was ever around) calling out fans? Head coaches didn’t have to worry about tripe like that.

And this has nothing to do with anything in the thread but one of my favorite people to interview of all time was Homer Smith. Dude’s overall IQ was probably about 297 but that man lived to talk FOOTBALL.

I am not mad just amazed how poorly we have executed at the start of the last two games. I do not expect us to score on every drive, but when we have the talent we do and fail to execute as badly as we do it does make one wonder where the breakdown is. Again, we are going to face tough defenses on a regular basis every game but offense in the first half could be stopped by a HS team.

If he doesn't want himself or the players booed. Well then they can all put a better first half product on the field. These aren't frickin' amateurs anymore. They're professionals and they're well compensated for their footballing services.

And from a player standpoint, that would be forgivable if they were still being paid with a scholarship and a hundred dollar handshake at the end of the game.
But they're not. They're being paid hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of dollars. They have handlers, agents and lawyers. They're straight up, legit professional football players.
I don't know if Grubb was being booed, the players, or a combination of both. But what I do know is this. You put a shite product on the field, you get a shite response.
Get the first half under control. Otherwise, the boos they get will be earned, just like their paychecks.

It shouldn't be this big a deal but he needs to chew on that shite sandwich. And Saban did get it right about coaches talking to the media. Still remember reporters chasing Pruitt down after the Tua title game and he said "we only got one voice on this team." And walked away
