My .02 is that kind of talk does Grubb zero good. He should be above trolling. Even if he has a point.
But in fairness, I must ask was it the offense or defense that actually had the most significant slow start?
We had punts on the first two series … the first series was fricked by a penalty … but after that the offense pretty much had its way the rest of the game. It might be interesting to do a research project on how many times under Saban we fired blanks on the first two drives of the game. It happens.
But the defense at the start was making FSU look like the 1972 Dolphins and Daniels look like Joe Willie Namath. They were going through us like a double dose of X-Lax.
Again, which was the more significant slow start?

Maybe I am reading something into it that’s not there but that specific verbiage tells me that he’s just parked here until something better comes along. Which would please a lot of people I know.
Someone who really wants to be here would think in terms of “our” fans.

This is making some of you mad because it's factual and hits close.
There are a lot of fans on here who literally can't stand Alabama not having tremendous success on every play, every down and winning by blowout.
It's always ironic that those fans who never have the stomach to back or support their team during struggles will demand the players be stronger and tougher and call them soft when that is actually what the fans have become.

You speak 100% truth. 1,000% truth. Like I said the other day, some in our fan base can’t accept anything less than four quarters of joyless murderball.
And I have called Grubb out some but I don’t want him fired as OC, and I don’t think he’s an incompetent boob as a play caller as his most vicious opponents do.
But there’s something about this that rubs me the wrong way.

I was at the game and I did not hear the boo birds( I am a season ticket holder since Gene Stallings). We as a fan base are spoiled rotten. In the Dubose/Shula era we would have been happy to win any game. Now if we do not blow every team out from the start people lose their minds.
By the way Kentucky has a good football team. How many games did Nick Saban lose his last years?

We were losing 21-6 to FSU and immediately got into a 3rd and 10. People being frustrated is pretty understandable. I didn't hear many folks leaving afterwards up in arms and pissed off. A bit confused, slightly frustrated, but not very much anger.
And like you, I don't remember hearing many if any boos. I certainly heard a collected grumbling and irritation at that point, but certainly not an orchestrated, loud boo.
I think at this point people understand that under this regime you just can't set an expectation for a game based on anything you've seen prior. We might show up and play like a Saban team of old, we might show up and play like its 2000 Mike DuBose. The good thing about this team has been, at least so far, when they show up playing like its 2000 they find a way to fix it. But it's not a great strategy moving forward.

This offense when Russell completely gets his sea legs under him is going to be superhuman.
I just don’t see where Grubb poking at fans like an SEC Rant poster is going to facilitate that. Again, maybe I’m overreacting.

I’ve felt that way from the outset with Grubb. He’s had multiple opportunities to work here and didn’t take it until his spectacular failure in the NFL was poised to setback his career greatly until his longtime coach and friend saved him.
He doesn’t really want to work in Tuscaloosa, coach the Crimson Tide, or a combination of the two.
I am not that impressed with him as a play caller. His identity in big moments is to call the Annexation of Puerto Rico. Maybe the lack of a competent run game hamstrung him here but that was a bit of his MO back in Seattle too.

He didn’t trust his OL to do anything but pass block in Seattle but his boss told him to do something … run more … and he simply would not do it. It doesn’t matter if you’re a football coach or a convenience store clerk, if you don’t do what your boss tells you to do you’re going to get canned.
And Seattle didn’t run a crap ton more last year than they did under Grubb but maybe Macdonald knew what he was talking about and the genius play caller didn’t.
I’ve used the term “cult of the play caller” here before. People put guys who can call the Annexation of Puerto Rico on too high pedestals in this sport. IMO it’s why Kiffin is on too high a pedestal.

he is a narcissistic individual, been saying it for a while. Hope the offense continues to get better(which they will), and he wont have any choice but to play to their strengths, and not what he wants to do.

We have the worst fans. People actually get pissed at a coach who, by far, holds the best evidence of being THE up and coming coach in all of college football. He's won championships at lower levels. He took Washington to the Championship game. He took us to the SEC championship game in year two and the playoffs, where he won the first road game in playoffs history and then ran into a buzz-saw of an Indiana team. His record against Lanning, Sark, Kirby is unmatched. He's been to more SEC championship games than Kiffin and as many as Sark. He's beaten Georgia 2-3 times. 2 and 0 vs. Auburn.
People THINK he was left some full-cupboard by Saban and only needed to do a semi-decent job to win a championship. That couldn't be further from the truth. He was left no quarterback, a crappy o-line room, no running backs, and the only guys anybody liked and who gave great effort he brought with him from Washington.
He just wins. It might not be as pretty as some would like, but he wins.

Yep. Seattle was not an exceptionally more efficient run offense in 2025 compared to 2024 but the commitment played to their roster strengths (the defense) because it shortened games.
