Who? Saban? Because it is the Saban quote I was responding to.
Now that you mention it Saban has a history of a bit of bait and switch: sound worried when things are actually good, sound encouraging when things are actually bad. Wouldn’t really call it “trolling” though, more like reverse psychology.

Greg McElroy said this morning on WJOX that he attended part of yesterday's practice. His take:
- Milroe and Simpson are 1A and 1B
- Saturday's scrimmage may be the deciding factor in who starts against Middle Tennessee, but both will likely play
- Lonergan has earned the right to take snaps with the 2s; he doesn't think Lonergan is a potential starter at this point, but he's played his way into the discussion
- McElroy thinks Buchner is probably the fourth QB at this point, behind Lonergan; Holstein is fifth
- At this moment, he thinks Milroe starts against MTSU, but he expects Simpson to play a lot as well; again, Saturday's scrimmage may impact that

Milroe must’ve had a really nice few weeks. If he wins the job, here’s the size of the crow that he’ll have the opportunity to serve up

If it is close as far as passing, Milroe gets the nod because of his other gift set that he has.

Gotta disagree. I want the best passer/the guy with the best grasp of the offense. All 3 of the top guys are athletes even if Milroe is on another level

If the depth chart ends up that way, guessing Buchner wishing he could go back to Notre Dame and be one injury from being the starter again.

What am I trolling about? You don’t think I’ll be there lol?

Lol you are assuming Milroe doesn’t have a grasp of the offense.
What makes you think that?

Not sure where you got this. All I said is that I don’t consider running ability as that big of a tiebreaker. I want whatever guy that maximizes our passing game

It's not that he doesn't, necessarily. But like Greg McElroy said, Ty Simpson is a highly cerebral player who just lacks a bit of confidence. He's a coaches son. In other words, he's going to be capable of making more checks and adjustments at the line, and overall better decisions.
I thought it was also interesting that McElroy said Simpson is our best pure passer by a "wide margin" and he believes Simpson will eventually get the job.

It could be why he hasn’t taken the Bull by the horns. Confidence is huge on this game. If he is lacking that he could make a critical error because he doesn’t take action.
I’d rather a guy who lets it fly and takes the chance for us to win.
I like our situation, we have a lot of guys competing their arse off. No one is safe.

I never got a sense he didn’t understand what he was supposed to do even last year.
My question and concern was whether or not he understood what the defense was trying to do to him and if he had the accuracy to make the intermediate throws downfield.

Some of those DL at the end of the video look pretty explosive. Specifically Oatis, Eboigbe, James Smith, Jordan Renaud, and Goodwine. Big Tim Keenan looks like he can move as well. Renaud and J. Smith have some bend and look like they have some serious potential.

I know it's a small sample size. but if you watch milroe's passes, he never puts the ball in the same place twice in a row. receiver's are having to make to many adjustments to catch his passes. this is against air! i've liked milroe ever since he committed. but in what his third season now, he still hasn't fixed his footwork and it shows, glaringly. with his athletic ability, if he'd just fix his mechanics, he could be a heisman type qb.

Correct! His footwork is his main issue. He has all the arm talent in the world but you can’t see it because he’s using all arm and and not stepping into it.
