Lonergan and milroe played better competition in highschool than Simpson.the gamespeed is not to much for them. Simpson seems like he has trouble with the speed. I think lonergan has better upside as a passer than milroe. He has sneaky good mobility too. I believe that he will eventually be the guy if milroe can't get it done.

I stated that I was impressed with his POTENTIAL!

Ty Simpson was the only one who showcased all the intangibles a quarterback should have during the ADay game.

Never said Bama fans wanted him to start tide06.

Link?

I don't know a single person who was jumping for joy when we got Holstein's commitment.

Exactly. Most people were disappointed that we missed on Arch Manning.

I’ll be at the scrimmage Saturday. If Lonergan has a real shot it will be on display with the run through.

Why are you on a message board if you don’t want to talk about this?

This week of "fall camp" and in part, the scrimmage on Saturday is about identifying who the 40 ~ 50 guys are that the coaches will be working with during game weeks to get them ready for Saturdays. The rest of the players will become the scout team.

Typically they will select 2 QB's to prep in the game planning. A year like this, there will likely be three QB's for the first 2 or 3 weeks. Coming out if Saturday's scrimmage, they want to have the 45 guys identified. In this 45, they want to have a pretty good idea who the first 15 (or so) will be for both O & D.

If Lonergan is getting extended looks this week, he gave the coaches a reason to consider him for a slot in the top 3. He has two days to state his case for being on the travel squad and get at least some game plan work. Good for him.

I'm just gonna leave this Saban quote right here from a week ago. See if you all can read between the lines

"We’ve had circumstances around here where quarterbacks have changed during the course of the year,” he said. “You know what they are, you understand the history of what’s happened with this place. So that’s going to be the way this situation is. Somebody needs to separate themselves and then all the (quarterbacks) need to continue to compete so they improve so that if they do get an opportunity to play, they’re going to be ready to play and play well.”

Wut? Boz been going to practices for years. A lot of what he says is just his opinion relative to what he saw first hand but the info is legit.

Not going to lie, this quote does NOT encourage me.

Despite what this sounds like, I’m going to choose to believe that what Saban really means is we have multiple high SEC level options for QB1 and are just waiting for that all-SEC level option to emerge and NOT that we don’t have anyone that has shown they are ready for prime time two weeks out.
