Exactly that. Sadly all media is kind of like that now. I would feel incredibly gross if I had to work in media. I think whoring is more dignified

My parents' reaction when I told them I was going to college to major in journalism was not...enthusiastic. Fortunately, by junior year, I came to my senses and knew I did not want to join that cesspool. Decades later, I still have no regrets.

i put the vast majority of "journalists" into the same category as politicians. if they're awake they're either telling a lie, just told a lie or are thinking up a lie for future use.

Journalism as a respectable field was a post-war to around Watergate aberration. On the balance, the field has always been sort of low regard in the United States.

There is probably interesting historical analysis on why that generation of respectability happened in the US and also why it ended but that is subject for another board.

“Coach Paul Bear Bryant was once asked to contribute $10 to help pay for a sportswriter's funeral. According to legend, he said, "Here's a twenty, bury two."

Just two announced so far : Austin Morris (grad transfer) and JYJ. Neither one has publicly indicated their next landing spot. The portal closes tonight for players to enter and I believe teams have a few days to process paperwork, but so far, retention looks good.

That dude is one miserable SOB. I hope it’s a schtick on Twitter and not his actual existence.

It’s interesting because I believe we have to be down to 34 rostered players sometime this fall - either start of fall or end of fall?

I think right now we are well over that number when you consider returners and incoming signees so something has to give. I know the draft is coming up but I don’t think we will lose enough there to balance it out.

I may dive into that later on and see exactly where things stand.

I think there’s an exception to the 34 player limit for players who were already on the team.

Current student-athletes already on a roster are fully grandfathered in. Schools can designate extra returning players as "DSA" (Designated Student-Athletes), allowing them to compete without counting against the 34-man hard cap

Alabama Fan has already got the list going I the first post here. We are at 47 as of now. I’d think we will lose a handful through the draft and a couple with eligibility may walk away. So if what he says about DSA is correct we may be good for next year.
