I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to the 2026 team, but now that’s it’s over, it’s time to look to the 2027 edition. Here’s what I have so far.

I don't keep up with recruiting anywhere near like I used to. How is the quality of our recruiting looking? This season should help boost it.

We have a top 20 class but most of the big dogs in baseball recruiting are SEC schools. We have a couple of players that will get drafted fairly high so just depending how high will determine if they make it to campus.

Mercer transfer pitcher Garrett Lambert (@_garrettlambert) is transferring to Alabama.
The Georgia native played in two seasons (2024, 2026) with the Bears. He missed the 2025 season due to injury.
Lambert finished those two seasons with a 7-1 record and a 4.12 ERA. In 89.2 innings, he recorded 110 strikeouts and 33 walks. Opponents held just a .224 batting average against him.
With Alabama potentially losing two starters, Lambert figures to compete for a starting role on the weekends.
How do you feel about this commitment for the Crimson Tide?

BREAKING: South Florida transfer pitcher Michael Senay is transferring to Alabama.
Senay, a Florida native, spent one season with the Bulls.
Out of Senay’s 12 appearances, 11 of them were starts. He finished the season with a 5-2 record and a 3.58 ERA. In addition, he threw 70.1 innings while finishing with a 49/11 walk to strikeout ratio.
He was named to the American Conference All-Freshman Team at the conclusion of the season.
Senay is the second starting pitcher that Alabama has landed via the transfer portal with the first being Mercer RHP Garrett Lambert.
Both players are expected to be key arms for the Crimson Tide in 2027.

I suppose there’s always a chance, but highly doubtful for Fay. I would think a better chance with Heiberger than with Fay.

Disagree in Torres. He had a huge hit in the SR and it was huge. Only up one and giving St John hope would have been bad. He had other at bats he won games as well. I thought as the season went on he played third very well and made some outstanding plays. Hitting and the starting pitching in the WS was really the story. This team played MUCH better defense in the playoffs than the regular season. Torres gets a bad rep but he produced in the regional and super regional

Designated as a redshirt junior during the 2026 campaign, he should have one more year of eligibility. And instead of doing so with the Crimson Tide, Morris is looking elsewhere.
Morris made 49 appearances during his Alabama career, totaling 65.1 innings. All of them were out of the bullpen as well. The Crimson Tide never counted on him to be a starter.

Alabama relief pitcher Kaden Humphrey has confirmed with me that he is RETURNING for another season in Tuscaloosa.
Humphrey transferred from North Florida to Alabama last offseason. He made three appearances for the Crimson Tide in 2026 before suffering a season-ending injury.
In his college career, Humphrey has made 51 appearances, recording a 3-4 record and a 5.68 ERA with 12 career saves.
He will provide valuable experience and depth in the back-end of Alabama’s bullpen.
This is huge news for Rob Vaughn and the Crimson Tide!

MLB Seeks Sweeping Draft Overhaul, Including End Of High School Eligibility
As part of the MLB and MLBPA’s collective bargaining negotiations, Major League Baseball proposed on Thursday the elimination of high school draftee eligibility as part of a broader framework to significantly rework the amateur player acquisition system.
The proposal would also cut the MLB Draft from 20 to 12 rounds, slash draft bonuses by more than 50% compared to last year’s totals, allow for more expansive trading of draft picks and establish hard draft slots, which would mean that a draft pick’s signing bonus would be for a set amount as determined by the draft position.
The proposal would also establish an international amateur draft that would have the same amount of bonus compensation as the MLB amateur draft. In previous CBA proposals, MLB proposed lower bonus pools for the international draft.
MLB’s proposal also assures these changes will not impact the number of affiliated teams in the MiLB Professional Development License (PDL) system. MLB stated that the number of affiliated MiLB teams would remain at 120, and that MLB would not be seeking reductions in the 2030 PDL negotiations with MiLB club owners.
This lengthy new proposal is part of the negotiations that have taken place between MLB and the MLBPA in advance of the current collective bargaining agreement expiring in December. There is no guarantee this system will be adopted in whole or even in part. But it does serve as a marker for MLB’s starting point of negotiations on talent procurement with the players’ union.
Baseball America has reached out to the MLBPA for comment and will update this story with their response. Below, BA subscribers can read more about the potential ramifications of MLB’s new proposal.

Torres was TERRIBLE. Absolutely TERRIBLE. He was a massive liability at 3B. If it wasn’t hit right at him he missed it. He was terrible at the plate. And on top of that, he was SLOW.

Any suggestion that Vaughn intentionally left a superior player on the bench just because he liked another guy is ludicrous.
He didn’t like anyone as much as he liked Will Plattner I guarantee you and Platt barely played this year.
People don’t want to accept that Torres was our best option this year but he was. He gave his all. Stop shitting on the dude who did nothing wrong.
