On the latest episode of his documentary series, QB Baker Mayfield explains why he hung up on Brett Favre's agent Bus Cook...
quote:

“Bus Cook, Brett Favre’s agent, great story. Every agent does the same thing, they give their résumé, what they’re about, all this stuff,” Mayfield said. “Finally, when he was about to give me a chance to talk, he asked, ‘So, when did Bob Stoops start recruiting you?’ And I said ‘Excuse me?’ and then he repeated the question.”

Mayfield, of course, was a walk-on at Texas Tech. He then walked on at Oklahoma.

“I just said ‘I gotta go’ and then I hung up. It’s like, if you’re going to pursue a guy and say that you want him and you want to be that guy that’s going to be there for him, why not do your research?”

Smart move. Bus Cook just looked at Baker as another easy payday. Better to get the guy who cares enough to know about you then the one who doesn't give a damn when dealing with an agent. Trust me on that one.

Didn't Bob Stoops still have to recruit Mayfield as a transfer candidate?

Bus Cook is very good at what he does. He knows the story of Baker. We all do. Anybody that remotely follows college football knows Baker’s journey. That question was not an accident.

When Mayfield showed up at OU, no one knew he had transferred there.

Seems like an odd thing to get bent out of shape about, but OK

If Bus Cook didn't bring it up, the issue isn't Mayfield getting short with the agent, it's the fact he's making a spectacle out of it. Just another character red-flag.

you pussies hate on this guy for no good reason. He isnt JM2......I think the guy plays with a chip on his shoulder. I guess none of you worked for something nobody thought you could attain. He's watching his back. cant blame him. frick agents, they are slimy shite anyway. You can only have one, why not go for the guy who cares enough to do a little research and not be a lazy hack riding Favre's coat tails

Baker ran from the cops, acted like an arse on the field, loves the media's attention, and gets bent out of shape for something so little. Dude sounds like a bigger douche than JM2.

Contrived. I’ll just stick to WWE where the fiction is given some actual thought.

Did y'all even read it? He was mad that the guy didn't do his research on him, he shouldn't have to ask when Bob Stoops started recruiting him.

Even when you walk on, you still get recruited many many times. Do you really think he just showed the frick up at the school and knocked on the coaches door? Hes a fricking clown and does whatever to draw attention to himself. I wish nothing but failure on his career.

Bob stoops never recruited him. Baker like stalked him outside of his office and finally got a shot. Baker enrolled at OU with no commitment or communication from the team. I learned this by watching a 6 min piece on college gameday. I'm sure the agent could have done that.

Stoops didnt recruit him any? How did he end up at ou then? Just showed up in norman, grabbed some pads, and walked out on the field I guess. This guy just has one of thoses faces you want to hit with a frying pan. What a gimp

According to Mayfield and Stoops that actually sounds like basically how it happened. It doesn't sound like Stoops recruited him at all really. It was a unique beginning for a guy that ended up winning the Heisman to say the least.

So transferring and walking on precludes any recruitment? This guy is a douche

Actually Bob Stoops had no idea Mayfield was even coming to the university.
