During ESPN's 'Get Up', Paul Finebaum was asked about LSU's season opener vs. Clemson and his expectation for the game.

Finebaum thinks that Clemson will win the game and said, "Life is going to become very miserable quickly for Brian Kelly."

I might be wrong, but while the fan base is going to be annoyed, I think generally everyone understands what a challenge this game is. It’s not the same type of opening game like years past.

Why should we be annoyed with a decisive win on the road?

This makes CBK mishandling of the other 3 openers that much worse, IMO. Clemson will probably be the toughest outside of the first matchup against FSU

Not sure about that, LSU has opened up with plenty of week 1 powers in the past and done quite well pre-BK.

Finebum is an idiot. I like LSU in this one. Our defense is elite and deep. Yes, out OL is in question, but roll outs, move the pocket, and Nuss will have to run to keep the Clemson defense in check. Our depth at WR and skilled positions is better and deeper than Clemson. Klubnik might be running for his life also. I see a defensive game with LSU winning by 3. This team has a different feel and is loaded with talent. Our special teams will play a role to. This LSU team is deep all around. LSU will get after it saturday night.

LSU 34 Clemson 13.....Our defense comes to play and Weeks, Pyburn, and Perkins will have Klubnik looking over his shoulders all night long.

Our defense is elite? Let's take a step back there baw. Kelly has yet to put together an average performing defense. On paper, we should be very good, but let's see what we actually look like on Saturday before we start using "elite" to describe the D.

Absolutely nothing says our D is elite. Kelly will have to earn every minute of this win if he wants to considered a top CFB head coach. This is his make or break year and we ALL know he absolutely must win this one.

This game needs to be like 2011 opener vs Oregon or 2018 vs Miami.

If lsu wins I think it will be going away like that.

I feel much better about this opener being the underdog for once

Clemson is the betting favorite to win and it’s on the road. It’s just too bad that Bama gets a weak Florida State when we got their star studded teams, and now we get Clemson when they are loaded more than any year in many years.
We get a bad draw

As usual, what would it be like if LSU had an easy schedule? Can't recall in my lifetime

A So much talk about opening loss as if the opening games have been against cup cake teams.

Win or lose I don’t think it’s going to be miserable for Brian Kelly. Annoying, frustrating, here we go again yes. But this team has the ability to run the table or have just one loss the rest of the way.

Paul just reads headlines and doesn't actually look at any stats. Clemson Defense was incredibly average last year.

Same personnel as last year, aside from Will Heldt. New DC, but we know better than anyone that a new DC does not transform a defense overnight. I expect Clemson's D to be good but not dominant in this game. LSU will be able to score and move the ball.

That is why you play the game. It all boils down to preparation. Who is the most physically and psychologically prepared for the win. LSU has elite athletes and Clemson has elite athletes. The question is who is most prepared and who wants it the most. A 75% talent who gives 110% will beat a 95% talent who plays with 89% effort every time. The 110% effort will demoralize the 99% talent, mentally, and reduce him to a 79% effort. It is a psychological principle of war. Give me 22 Jacob Hester attitudes and Clemson does not have a chance.

Well it seems that the only miserable start Paul is your predictions on all your picks and predictions. Maybe you should think about the big R.

I think LSU has as much a chance of winning as Clemson does. But would it kill us to schedule these kind of games in week two? That seemed to work pretty well in 2019- the last time LSU won an opener. Once again, we open the year with one of the toughest match ups, putting our backs against the wall, immediately....

I’m not worried by Clemson’s football team. Paul is wrong about most things and I’m not surprised about his pick to win. Clemson can rarely beat South Carolina and they are normally horrible. Just saying… don’t pay much attention to what Paul spouts out of that big mouth.
