Professional poker player Martin Kabrhel has been accused of cheating at the World Series of Poker...
quote:

Kabrhel finished third in the $250,000 buy-in Super High Roller No-Limit event on Sunday, but has drawn cheating accusations because of a couple incidents at the final table. The WSOP is investigating.

Kabrhel, from the Czech Republic, turned heads with a very questionable call that would knock out Dan Smith in sixth place. Kabrhel raised and then Smith re-raised all-in. Kabrhel thought about it briefly and then called with 10-6 suited, whch is a garbage hand, but he flopped a six and Smith and his A-Q never recovered.

A Q is not a bad starting hand at all.

I don’t see a problem. I the guy wants to go balls out that’s his game. If this had been Ivy or Helmuth everyone would say it was brilliant.

If it would have happened to Helmuth, he would have bitched like a little girl just like he did years ago when another player did the same thing to him.

I’m failing to see how he could have cheated here as he called with the worst hand and had to hit a card to win. Unless he was in on it with the dealer it’s not cheating. Hell, in the grand scheme, it’s not a terrible call as the guy had 30 million and it was less than 1/6 of his stack to make that call. Questionable, maybe, but cheating, I highly doubt it.

Guy has a huge stack and probably expected the other guy to shove all in with half decent hand. Crazy play but thats how a lot of these guys play

Didn’t Brunson make a living off that hand?

Dude, if he thinks smith is moving all in 8-3 or something, then it's understandable.

I doubt he thought he was ahead, it was a math play at that point, 2 live cards made it worth a call

Older players get pissed when the younger generation of players do not play poker the way they do. Weird calls and lucky draws piss them off.

Is he being accused of counting cards or something? I don’t get it. He took a calculated risk with 1/6th of his chips to try and knock a competitor out. And it just happened to work.

Counting cards from a standard 52 card deck?

WTF?

He had six times the chips of his opponent and a 1/3 chance of knocking him out unless the opponent had a pocket pair (5.9% chance of that), so basically a 1/4 of winning and advancing and only giving up 1/6 of his stack. I'm a wimp and wouldn't have called, but it may actually be the right call.

He had a chance to eliminate a player at the final table... And once you go head to head with another player, unless one or both of you have a pocket pair, his 6 or 10 have just as much of a chance as his A or Q to hit. Obviously the AQ is higher, but the probability of pairing a card is the same... plus he has a chance at a flush or straight. This is not a bad play when you are big stack.

They keep saying Bawski cheated, but don't ever say what they think he did. If only they had 6 cameras around the table so they could watch the playback, then STFU and apologize.

Kabrhel's been accused of marking cards before. And he fricking stands up in the middle of this very game yesterday which doesn't generate a lot of goodwill among other players. Not sure WSOP needs to tolerate his bullshite much longer but we'll see what they find out when they look at the deck that was in use.

What does standing up have to do with marking cards?

accused? seems like it would be extremely easy to prove that he did that or not. There's cameras everywhere.
Seems like ole cowboy is just a sore loser bitch.

Kabrhel's a complete prick, but there is nothing even close to substantially show he cheated. Maybe he did, but there is not nearly enough evidence to lay these accusations.

All I see is a routine hand of poker in a late-tournament scenario.

Have you ever played poker? Moving all in preflop with ace-Queen in that situation is not a bluff and he’s way ahead
