WE have a problem with a lack of 3 point shooting, so we are gong to trade our best 3 point shooter for a non 3 point shooter?

I don't want Kuminga if he was free.
OP and the person that tweeted this are morons for wording it that way.

It wasn’t a random murder. This wording makes it sound like they walked on the bus and just randomly shot someone just to kill them.
It was an innocent bystander struck by a stray bullet between two pieces of shite.

The Hawks didn't cut Young they traded him for salary filler the Pelicans right now can't even get that for Zion.

Yes they could, very easily. But they want more, as they should.

quote:

Cutting Zion now without getting matching salary in return would kill any hope of future team building as it would put you under the cap limiting your options.

I don't know what any of this means. Every trade has to be done with matching salaries, unless you have cap space, and there's only two teams with cap space, and it ain't us.
The Hawks traded Trae for expiring salaries. key word there is expiring. So they basically traded him for absolutely nothing no different than just cutting him, except they have the option to keep CJ or Kispert next year if they want.

All that being said, Zion and the salary cap/tax situation for this team is irrelevant. We aren't a tax team, we aren't going to be. It makes no difference if we are above or below the cap, but i'd prefer to be below so we can do uneven trades or take in salaries to get more draft capital. Any move right now, or this offseason, should be with the mindset of what this team looks like in 2 years.

quote:

The best time to trade Zion is the off season when more options will be open

I would agree, but if Zion gets hurt again, then those options will be next to nothing. That's the risk in not trading him now. And if he does get hurt again, he's very likely not going to get his future salaries guaranteed so we could cut him in the offseason.
quote:

Explain how just cutting Zion would help the team with the current cap situation.

It has little to do with the cap situation. It's about building a team for the future, and Zion ain't in that future.

What do you think the Hawks just did?

Developing a team outside of him and not having to completely change how you play depending on if he's playing or not, is another excellent reason why you're simply better without him.

3. He's often a hurt idiot
4. I don't like him

The Bulls have 2 firsts this year (Portland protected 1-14, next 3 years protected 1-14 if it doesn't convey) so they can trade one in 2026 and in 2027, but no they can't trade one in 2028 if they do those two.

Let's play a game

Who's going to go off from 3 point land tonight for the Wizards?
Someone has hit at least 5 of them in 7 of the last 10 games against us.

Here's what has happened in the last 10 games
Hawks - Risacher went 7-9 and Porzingis 4-18
Lakers - Lebron, Luka and Smart each hit 3 threes
Heat - Powell went 9-12
Blazers - Love went 6-11 and Camara went 4-11
Bulls - had 5 guys hit 2 threes, and 3 more with 1. All 8 main players made a 3.
Knicks - Brunson went 5-10 and Diawara went 4-4
Suns - Gillespie went 5-7 after going 4-10 the night before against us. O'neal went 5-8
Cavs - Merrill went 6-10
Mavs - Klay went 5-12

Kyshawn George, Bub Carrington and Tre Johnson are all due for a big game from 3 against us. Good thing CJ isn't playing b/c he'd probably hit 10+ against us.

Last 10 games we've give up on average 43 attempted 3's on 37% shooting, meanwhile we are taking 32 3's and only making 31%. If you're mathing, that's 10 made 3's compared to 16 for our opponents.
I want Coby White and Zach Collins.
Not interested in the very undersized Patrick Williams who has been a big negative when on the court vs off the court most of his career thus far. Saddiq Bey is a better player at a similar size, only 2 years older, and on a much more friendly contract.
I also do not want anyone from them that's not an expiring contract, as i assume Giddey and Buzelis aren't available.

I do not think they are giving up 3 firsts for Zion.

White, Collins, Carter (doesnt' matter what his first name is), 2 firsts for Zion and Looney is probably the most we'd get, and I'd be very happy with that. White is having a rough start to this year, but he's proven over the last 4 years with his 38% 3 point shooting on over 6 attempts that he can shoot. This 32% from 3 this year is the outlier. What sucks with him is he's a bad defender, despite having the tools and size to be better. I can accept that if he comes off the bench and scores though.

I do want their 2026 1st, and since they aren't morons it would be top 4 protected but that's fine.
He should have called them bitch arse "unspeakable word by anyone but black people". That is apparently a-ok to say and doesn't get you any kind of suspension or even some sorry arse forced apology.

Lebron's bitch arse at 2:40 telling Udoka not to use the b word
Lebron's bitch arse at 6:20 telling the ref to "call the foul bitch arse unspeakable word by anyone but black people"

Has there been a game where we haven’t hit the post? Geez.

The problem is he is simply not worth what he / his contract will demand.

exactly. They have to stop giving out max contracts to guys who aren't max players. The Wizards apparently didn't learn their lesson with Bradley Beal, and are going to pay Trae a ridiculous amount like a bunch of morons. Trae doesn't care, he's just looking to get one last huge contract.

The Hawks will now have $80M in cap space to use this offseason when Porzingis and CJ come off the books. That's why they made this trade.
I wouldnt' be surprised if they keep CJ next year too. If he's ok comign off the bench and being their main scoring threat that way, I think they would be very keen on keeping him in that role, just at a reasonable salary.
What a lucky shitty shot.
Tried to get fouled on a game tying shot.
Just get a regular good jump shot off dumbass.

I can’t believe ATL couldn’t get a pick or 2 added in there.

He makes $49M next year but wants an extension now, and he might be the worst defender in the league.
I’m fine keeping Herb, but then Zion needs to go.
We can’t keep trotting out a lineup where Zion doesn’t shoot 3s, DQ isn’t a 3 point threat, and then Herb isn’t one either.
You can’t win with 3 guys on the court who can’t shoot.

Zion is the main issue, and I’m tired of the shitty attempts at building around him b/c it’s difficult, and now with DQ it will be even harder.
We need 3 point shooters on the court at all times and that just doesn’t ever happen.

Let me know where i can sign my kid up for Dixie Youth baseball in Baton Rouge.

It just seems like he hasn't been the same player since that season.

From a shooting perspective, no he has not been the same.
He's still the same difference maker defensively more often than not.

I do think we need to trade him right now.
He's making $14M this year and next, and then he jumps to $21M.

I do think someone like the Lakers or other contenders would love to have him, and it's been no secret that the Lakers want to get Herb.
Dalton Knecht and Maxi Kleber work perfectly for Herb, although i'd want a future 1st as well (2031 is what the Lakers can offer).
I think the Lakers love the idea of having Smart and Herb playing defense while Luka, Lebron and Reeves take turns scoring, and honestly, i think it makes them a strong title contender.

The fact that someone who trades for Herb gets him for 4 more years is why we have to get at least 1 1st round pick for him, if not 2, although i'll take a young player like Knecht and a 1st instead of just 2 firsts.
So you’re not ok with paw prints on your hood that are barely visible to anyone but you as you get in your truck and does nothing to your truck, but you’re ok with spreading fricking cayenne pepper all over your hood which will be caked on your hood in the morning from the dew and you’ll actually have to clean ?

Go get him big dog
