New Orleans leaders have reportedly grown concerned about hosting college football playoff
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports
New Orleans leaders have reportedly grown concerned about hosting college football playoff games in the future for financial reasons, so the committee has looked for support from local civic leaders and business owners...
quote:

“We don’t know how much we will need yet,” CEO of Sugar Bowl Committee told NOLA.com. "But we have been told that the cost to play is going up. We will begin negotiating this spring to compete for 2027. We cannot currently compete. That is why we are working on this.”

“But I think we can pull together and do it. We can compete on other things. We do a great parade, the way we entertain, the way you can walk to and from the Dome to anywhere. Those are things other cities cannot do.”

The only drawback is the crime but it’s a big one. The stadium is old but still a great venue with plenty of amenities nearby. It’s sad that the situation has gotten so bad.

There's crime in other cities too near stadiums. I don't think that is a reason people say no to going to playoff games. More like either too much money, not feeling it, or busy. I'd much rather go to Nola for a playoff than any other city in the US

Who in their right mind would go vacation in New Orleans? Its like holding a football game in Somalia. Enjoy getting murdered.

Never understood why New Orleans was such a priority for big events. Past being able to publicly be wasted off your a$$ and act like a fool I don’t know what the place has to offer.

A city that re-elects Latoya, doesn’t deserve any major event.

They should be more worried about the damn crime. Fix that and the rest will take care of itself.

while crime is a problem you don't understand the economics of college football, the only way for the bowls to survive is for corporate sponsorship. The state of Louisiana only has 2 Fortune 500 companies Entergy and Century Link and Century Link decided to sponsor the Seattle Seahawks!

I think they're trying to save face because the bowl series definitely wants to backout of this crime infested shite hole. Police are majorly under manned. Crime and murder are rampant and off the chart. If the criminals do get busted latoya makes sure they're set free. All in all one of the worst cities in America and getting badder daily

Why play at the Superdump when there are better stadiums in basically every other city

Exactly. You would have to be mad out of your mind to walk to anywhere from the Dome.
