On Tuesday's SportsCenter, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal argued that his 10-2 team still warrants a seat over SEC teams with a 9-3 record...
quote:

"Miami has certainly done enough to be in the playoffs due to the fact that Miami has won 10 games. As opposed to some other candidates that have won nine games," Cristobal said. "Miami winning 10 is certainly stronger than teams winning nine games."

Cristobal also noted that Miami "won convincingly" in its SEC matchup against the Florida Gators at Gainesville. The Hurricanes also have a common opponent with the Crimson Tide, who each handily defeated South Florida.

However, Cristobal feels Miami's 50-15 win over South Florida was more impressive than Alabama's 42-16 victory against the American conference opponent.

"I would say teams showcased very different capabilities in terms of their control of the football game," Cristobal said of those contests against South Florida. "So I think there's enough comparables out there that gives you an opportunity to see what versus who. And at the same time, Miami ends the season with the No. 1-ranked offense in the country. A generational offense."

There’s only one answer. 32-team divisions with playoffs and you get in solely based on your record a la NFL. Bottom 8 teams move down each year and top eight teams move up a division each year.

He didn’t mention that every loss that Miami had was against mom ranked teams. Trash Coach at a trash program.

A generational offense? Jesus H. I do NOT think that Bama belongs in the playoff but they probably do ahead of Miami. Want to be guaranteed a spot, Mario? Make sure to punch a ticket to your shitty conference's championship game

The same could be said for Alabama, who should have beaten a team a mediocre LSU destroyed.

Didn't even make it to the ACC championship in a down year for the ACC. lol

Miami does not deserve to be rewarded for playing a weak schedule. They barely won a lot of games this year as well on that schedule. This needs to immediately change which is why it makes no sense for LSU to keep opening the season against ranked opponents when right now the system favors a weaker schedule to get in the playoffs. Until they change this, keep playing weak schedules.

UGA, Texas, LSU, Tenn, South Carolina, Ole Miss, TAMU , Florida and possibly Mizzou all beat them. The UF team they played in week 1 is not the same UF team today.

Yea you’re right. I think UF is going to be a problem next year. Everyone was laughing at Billy, they not laughing now

@bow I think Florida is going to be a major problem next year. Like a 10 win problem. I am glad we have them at home.

Except that 2 of those 10 wins were blatantly stolen by the ACC officials. Miami wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs without the benefit of 2 of the worst calls ever.

There are at least 6 SEC teams, and maybe more, that would beat Miami by various degrees. I'm not a Bama fan, but since he cites them.....have Miami play their schedule and see what their record would have been. Guarantee it would be more than 3 losses.

Maybe 3 wins with a bench full of injuries.

He conveniently leaves out that Miami "generational" offense played against one top 25 team and lost. That Miami "generational" offense needs an actual defense to protect it's 21 point leads as well. Hey maybe if Cristobal had some kind of defense he wouldn't be so sour right now

Other than the headline which is terrible. He plainly and logically laid out his case. I see no shot at any sec team let alone teams.
