These have been expected for awhile. They didn't make this decision based on Stetson Bennett.

Where else could he go - at least to play football? It's either UGA where he can look good with top tier talent around him at every position or transfer to some middling program and get exposed.

Bryce Young had top tier talent at every position and he didn't look good against us. I guess when two teams with similar talent faces each other the cream rises to the top.

Extremely ironic.

We won in spite of him and nto because of him. It was all the talent around him.

Never mind that Alabama had more talent and Young played like crap.

Some of these people can twist and turn. It's very easy to tell the ones that know very little about football.

I’d argue we had more talent, but I get what you’re saying.

Out of curiosity...will we be loaded with talent next year at every position, or not? I mean, if Bennett does not win the job should we expect another talent?
Or does the talent level change according to Bennett starting or not?

I'd like to get you on record before the season starts so we can all enjoy your twisting and hypocrisy.

247 had us about even. They gave Alabama a slight edge.

My point was that Lucius kept saying that the only reason we were winning was because Bennett was surrounded by talent....yet we beat Alabama and they had the edge at QB. You would think Alabama would have easily beaten us since the talent level was so close and we had Stetson Bennett. (This according to Lucius)

Going to watch TV. The insanity on this board wears me out.

247 Talent composite

I thought this team was "bought in" and "connected". The numbers leaving doesn't jive with that mantra.

I would argue that all these players keeping this under wraps all season and focusing on the team goals is a great exhibit of how well they were all bought in to that mantra.

They accomplished the ultimate team goal, and are now focusing on themselves. I don't think any one could fault them for trying to do what's best for them.

Every fanbase has idiots. Stetson won a NC and a moron says "ugh" to his returning. You just can't make this shite up sometimes.

Yep...better for the program in the long run. And a lot less embarrassing than UGA again trotting out a scrawny 25-year-old who doesn't seem to have any football future (unless it's arena football).

You ever play any football?

This is awesome news. He just proved he’s capable of leading a team with elite talent to a national title. He’s shown tremendous improvement each year he’s seen the field.

Assuming he continues that trend and wins the job again, don’t be surprised if he ends up a Heisman finalist.

Pretty sure Burton made his decision based on the QB and his lack of targets. Darnell Washington is in the same boat but it appears that Kirby has convinced him to stay through Spring at least.

That's when they'll finally understand that this isn't personal with Stetson. This is about both the current state and future of the program.

Beck is good as gone. Brock will likely leave unless Kirby fills him so full of shite about there still being a QB competition that he actually believes it (he shouldn't). Gunnar just got pushed back a year, so don't be surprised if he says frick it and leaves.

So we'll have Stet for next season and potentially nothing behind him. Which means in the '23 season, when our defense and newer offensive players are mature and experienced enough to dominate to challenge Bama for another chip, we'll likely have a true freshman or a transfer at starting QB instead of an experienced Beck, Brock, or Gunnar with a year of experience under their belt working within the UGA offense and with UGA players.

Big picture gets lost on people. It's kool-aid drinking to think this is a championship roster next season (regardless of QB). We should be building for B2B chips in 23 and 24.

If that "Heisman finalist" entered the portal today, few teams would bite, much less top 10-15 ranked teams.

As long as a legitimate competition ensues I’m cool with it. If Brock or Gunner or whoever can’t beat Stet out, that’s their problem.

You owe it to the seniors and the rest of the team each season to play the guys that give you the best chance to win right then and there. If they happen to be young and gain meaningful experience that benefits them in the future, that’s great too.

Why do you think this? We will have different strengths, different questions, equal or more talent.

Looks a lot like 2018, which was pretty close and certainly competed for an SECC.

You really believe that to be true after watching Kirby manage the QB room during his tenure here?

No way anybody has a shot at unseating Stet unless he gets hurt or just regresses against a pretty damn easy schedule.

So, you want to just write next season off to "train" a qb for 2023. Maybe, just maybe an experienced qb would give the team the best chance to win in 2022. I don't want a coach who doesn't think he can win EVERY year.
