Fixed it. A QB from metro Atlanta wouldn't fit Kirby's system and personality, whether white or not.

Athens-Oconee isn't exactly "small town" regarding Vandagriff.

When you put Bennett's post-game and GMA comments together with this, it's clear that Bennett was issuing veiled threats that he'll leave if not guaranteed to be the starter (and likely also that no portal QB is taken who would post a threat). Kirby clearly agreed to this (we've let all the top portal QBs get away by now), and Kirby probably told Daniels directly or indirectly that the situation would be like this year (meaning: you may be healthy, but we're not going to truly reopen the QB competition).

Based on Bennett's post-game comments, seems to be more like Bennett not wanting competition, not Daniels.

That's a heck of a crystal ball you got there.

He was a big contributor to that end

Too bad he didn't just smile and thank everyone in the hours and days after the game. Between the veiled threats to leave UGA if a transfer portal QB is brought in (seriously, where's he going to go? Transfer to another program as a 25-year-old, seventh year senior? Right...), and the whining by him and dad about football forum comments (that he claims to ignore), he started to come off like an entitled little dude. Not a good look.

I've always been under the impression it was a team sport with all individuals doing their job and supporting each other when needed. I just always figured that individuals would shine when the game played into their strengths. There would be games the offense did great and games the defense rose up, and the same was true with individuals.

Color me stupid not realizing it's an individual sport. I didn't hear Nakobe Dean's name called once during the NC game. Cine was the playmaker with more recognition. Guess Dean was riding the bench with JT, because Kirby, well is Kirby, and aside from being unable to assess talent is a 'good ole boy', who only takes a shine to other 'good ole boys'.

Stetson is literally the polar opposite of entitlement. If you dont understand that, there is no hope for you.

As far as QBs go, I would fully agree with this statement. I don't think we'll be successfully recruiting any more Mater Dei products (high school of Bryce Young and JT Daniels coincidentally). If I'm a parent of a 5-star QB and don't fit Kirby's good ole boy mode, yeah, I'm thinking...no thanks...

Dude totally loves on Stockton so hey, that's a really good sign I think. And c'mon...check of BVG's hair. I think we've got a great pipeline going for culture fit with Kirby.

meh. It could be worse. He hasn't sank to the level of being a keyboard character assassin. That's lower than whale crap, and that's on the bottom of the ocean.

None really needed...it's already happened. And as far as the portal, the two guys most able to be day one starters and franchise types were Caleb Williams and Jaxson Dart. Williams is considered a done deal to USC and Dart is deciding between Oklahoma and Kiffen/Ole Miss. Could be a depth guy out there but not someone who would be a lock to start.

Both are true dual threats and have the size to do it without fear of them getting killed. Big arms too. Heard that despite huge numbers, though, that Stockton is also coming in raw and may not be a factor at all as a true freshman. Same as the way BVG. No idea if it's accurate.

Good grief man let it go. I also was skeptical Stet’s skill set was going to be able to win a NC, but he just did it and, with the exception of the SECCG, got better and better since his debut in 2020. If Bennett is our starter next year while we get Gunner or BVG ready for 2023, I am more than fine with it. He’s a national champion and we should treat him as such.

Why don't you downvote him then?

It's a major coaching faux pas for a guy not to get his starting job back coming back from injury. It happens, but it's one of those unwritten rules that are typically followed.

I sure as hell wouldn't come back to UGA if I were him.

I don't see anyone questioning the leave Tom Brady as a starter when Drew Bledsoe went down with injury and lost his job.

Stetson won a title - No one cares how it got done.

Apparently opinions vary as Stetson was voted the Offense MVP of the game.
Let’s be real…there’s no one team member who is the sole reason for winning a game.

A lot of you are beginning to sound like Alabama fans who still can't accept the fact that they lost. If we'd had Metchie, if Jameson didn't get hurt. Excuses, excuses, excuses. He's not NFL caliber (which doesn't make a damn in the scheme of things). He didn't win the game (named offensive mvp). Defense won the game (defense had 1 score out of 33 points).
Damn just give it up and admit defeat. Its old and demeaning.

This.

His story won’t get any better. It can’t, this year was as good as it gets. Former walk-on wins a Natty at his childhood dream school, taking down the 800-lb gorilla, Alabama. At best the only thing he can do to keep it at this level would be to win another NC, but even that won’t be on the same level as this year. Next year he’ll be a 25 year old, 7th year college football player, the former Rudy feel good story that stayed too long at the party.
