Devil's Advocate: Jake Fromm handled the pressure pretty well.

Fromm wasn't why we lost the 2017 title game.

Fair point. But Gunner won't have 2 generational RBs behind him.

Branson Robinson and Edwards if he stays aren’t generational but are very good that he will have in the backfield

I didn't realize that I wasn't permitted to make comments beyond what you were looking for.
It's an internet forum. You can say whatever you like and comment beyond what I was looking for. However, when you're having a discussion with someone, it works better to stay on topic until that's been wrapped up and then move on. You moved on without addressing my concerns about the topic at hand. It seemed like you were ignoring my statements that contradicted your position and shifted the discussion elsewhere. That's typically taken as a sign that you know you're wrong and can't support your position but are choosing to ignore that fact rather than admit to being wrong.

quote:

Different eras, different offenses, many differences. But I think the talent level as QBs and relative contribution to those winning seasons are roughly in the same ballpark.
There are a great many differences between the two, including their contributions. The 1980 championship team had a great defense and a single player (Walker) on offense that made the difference. Buck Belue's primary contributions were in handing the ball to #34.

Here is Buck's stat line in 1980:

Games: 11
Attempts: 77
Completions: 156
Pct Complete: 49.4%
Yds: 1314
Y/A: 8.4
TD: 11
INT: 9
Rating: 131.8

Here is Stetson's stat line for this season:

Games: 14
Attempts: 185
Completions: 287
Pct Complete: 64.5%
Yds: 2862
Y/A: 10
TD: 29
INT: 7
Rating: 176.7

That doesn't even cover what Stetson was able to do with his legs, which was a lot more than Buck was able to do for the 1980 team.

Differences in the game aside, if you persist in saying Bennett's contributions to our championship were about equal with Buck's, you are clearly misguided and are letting your pride prevent you from admitting that you are wrong about this.

Can you support your claim that Bennett's contributions are in the same ball park as Belue's in any way other than just saying so (arbitrary conjecture)?

quote:

I have zero interest in what five or six randoms on a football forum think of me. (That seems to be what's bothering some of you). I will continue to hold the same view of Bennett that I've had all along.

I mean, you could start a forum devoted solely to praising Stetson Bennett as a player and a person and control the membership, right?
Again, you're free to hold to whatever opinions you want, but you have to accept that your opinions are not guided by reason, at least you haven't shown otherwise.

JT and his parents were miffed that Kirby didn't start him after he came back from injury. Told Kirby that he would finish the season but wouldn't risk injury, so was no longer available for games. Kirby agreed and JT never played another snap, and wasn't going to ever again at UGA.

If true, screw them. Honestly the laugh is on them as they screwed him out of the real opportunity to qb a nc teams.

So bwhahahhahhaha at them, if true.

So the legend goes.

We still don't know the whole story on whether or not Jeremy Pruitt ended up in Richt's front yard, challenging him to a fist fight.

Something tells me that we aren't going to get the Paul Harvey version of the Why JT Daniels Didn't Get His Job Back anytime soon.

I hope he goes to Notre Dame (as is the rumor) and can somehow win the starting job, and then somehow stay healthy, and they face the Dawgs in the post season in 2022

Stet vs JT, for all the marbles

Face melter of all facemelters

Last week the story was that JT didn't accept the team doctors clearing him to play and had his own doctor tell UGA he wasn't ready to play so Kirby simply let him sit.
We may never know the true reason for this.
