Per Mike Griffith. Makes no sense if true. You're healthy why not come back?

Either way he feels as though he has a better chance for playing time at another school. Does this mean he doesn’t like the competition in the QB room? I hope so. I hope we start developing BVG this season, even if he splits snaps with Stet at times.

BVG, Gunner, and Stetson all being in the QB room isn't good for him. He most likely wants a team where he can walk in and be the unquestioned starter.

Kirby treats QBs like that scene from the Dark Knight. He walks into their meeting room, snaps a pool cue over his leg and throws the ends on the ground, then walks out and locks the door.

This is looking more and more like it's the case, and it's unfortunate. I'm sure he would've done admirably, had tragedy stricken and we needed him to spell an injured Bennett, last Monday, but if this story bears out, it would lead me to believe his heart wasn't in it after returning from injury.

If true, that's a bummer. Would love to have that additional experience on the roster, but I can't say I would blame him if he left.

Another example of why the transfer portal is out of control, though.

So what's the deal with transferring a 2nd time? I thought you were allowed one without penalty.Im assuming it doesn't matter if you're a grad transfer.

I feel like he for sure can grad transfer now. He's been at UGA for 2 years now, and spent 2 years at USC. No way he hasn't earned that degree.

I thought an athlete had a one-time transfer and after that had to apply for a waiver to be able to play immediate? Are you saying a graduate can transfer a second time without a waiver?

Yes

The one-timer is still in play, but you can still get a free grad transfer

He hasn’t graduated yet. Will graduate in may. He can enter the portal now and not enroll until after he graduates in May, when he would get another free transfer

If he was healthy this fall, which who the hell knwos if he actually was or not, we have proof that kirby preferred to play stetson over him. If stetson comes back, why woudl JT want to come back considering there's probably 100 other places he could start immeidatley?

You’re correct although there are some hoops he needs to jump through…

The graduate transfer waiver is now typically used by athletes who have previous transferred once before and so cannot use the one-time transfer exception (even as a graduate student).

A letter from the previous school saying it does not object to the student-athlete being eligible;

Documentation that the student-athlete has been accepted into a specific graduate degree program;

Documentation about whether that degree program is offered by the previous school;
A student-athlete statement including the reasons for the transfer; and

A statement from the previous institution about the student-athlete’s status on the team.

Per several outlets, this decision was made after he met with Kirby. When you put Bennett's post-game and GMA comments together with this, it's clear that Bennett was issuing veiled threats that he'll leave if not guaranteed to be the starter (and likely also that no portal QB is taken who would post a threat). Kirby clearly agreed to this (we've let all the top portal QBs get away by now), and Kirby probably told Daniels directly or indirectly that the situation would be like this year (meaning: you may be healthy, but we're not going to truly reopen the QB competition).

Based on Bennett's post-game comments, seems to be more like Bennett not wanting competition, not Daniels. Daniels just wants a legitimate opportunity to play, which makes sense as he was previously a starter, but he obviously concluded that wasn't going to happen. Definitely wouldn't blame him. He needs a season with playing time.

It's going to be interesting to see if Vandagriff is ready to go. He could very well be the top backup.

Good grief. And just when one thinks the stupidity couldn't reach a new low
