It just goes to show, with you it's not actually about the team winning, but individuals who fit your personal ......'appetite.'

Bull shite. Buck completed one pass. Stetson put the team on his back and led 2 huge TD drives going like 5/5 with 2 TDs. Give me a fricking break

Life must absolutely suck to finally see "your" team win a national championship after 40 years...but you still bitch, moan, and complain because the coach didn't start or play "your favorite" qb.

Sometimes this fan base blows my mind. I know a few guys who are legitimately upset because UGA won with Stetson at QB. Damned winning the Natty...we should have played so and so....or done so and so. Best run in UGA history and some folks still have their lips pooched out.

JT lost his starter position to Stetson. Yes, he was injured, but even after recovery JT was in a worst position in the depth chart. Kirby played who he thought was the best and JT was not the best. There are a lot of rumors/ speculations: he has bad work ethics, doesn't get along with coaches. Who knows? A player of his calibre should NEVER lose his position to a walk-on and that tells me something was wrong with JT. Glad he is gone.

True. Belue AND Herschel had good WRs, a very good defense, and a great OL to protect the passer and open holes for the RBs. Same as Bennett. And same as JT when he played. Which game did JT win by himself?

A lot of you are beginning to sound like Alabama fans who still can't accept the fact that they lost. If we'd had Metchie, if Jameson didn't get hurt. Excuses, excuses, excuses. He's not NFL caliber (which doesn't make a damn in the scheme of things). He didn't win the game (named offensive mvp). Defense won the game (defense had 1 score out of 33 points).
Damn just give it up and admit defeat. Its old and demeaning.

I didn't say a word about Stet. I explained why I think JT is leaving...his coach fricked him.

He was named starter at the beginning of the season (at that time, better than Stet according to coaches). Got hurt. Never got his starting job back and may have taken, what, maybe a few dozen snaps after becoming healthy?

As a player, a competitor, he's not going to take that kind of slight lightly. Of course he's leaving.

I don't see anyone questioning the leave Tom Brady as a starter when Drew Bledsoe went down with injury and lost his job.

Yes, because pulling the example of literally the greatest NFL quarterback of all-time as proof my comment was wrong really captures the essence of my comment.

Regardless of sport, injured guys losing their starting jobs to their subs is frowned upon in most cases. Much like free agency in the pros, the transfer portal will force coaches to respect players and mind their own reputations. You don't frick with a man's pocketbook when dealing with paid athletes.

Great take and spot on.

Would you mind telling us who the sole reason we won the National Championship was?

Because I can tell you who won the MVP Award in the Orange Bowl against Michigan and also won the MVP in the National Title Game.

So I am curious. (I do agree that Stetson Bennett was not the sole reason we won the National Championship game, btw) Who was in your opinion?

It isnt the exception.

Players losing their starting job to injury happens a crap ton (when the replacement performs. I would go on to say that maybe it is the norm when the replacement is doing great).

Question. Is the coaches job to placate a players ego, or is it to win a National Championship?

We might have won the championship with JT Daniels. we DID win it with Stetson Bennett.

Given the opportunity....right now....would you give up the National Championship we won to put JT Daniels as the QB and start over at the beginning of the season?

We were close to winning with jake fromm taking over after an injury.

Maybe that is the secret. To wally pipp the starter so the hungry backup can take charge from there.

With NIL and the transfer portal it will quickly evolve into a players' league. This is just the first season in what will become a complete transformation of college football which will ultimately leave it looking much more like a professional league. Part of that transformation will undoubtedly include managing egos.

Of course not. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. But I'm a fan, not a player trying to improve my draft stock. JT is probably ecstatic to be a part of a national championship team but that championship did absolutely nothing for his future prospects. He needs to build value.

But not this year.

I get his angst. I just don't get yours.

You said that Stetson Bennett was not the sole reason we won a championship.
Again I will ask. Who was the sole reason we won the championship?

The question you need to ask is, was Bryce Young the reason Bama lost? Because, we know their answer if the tables had turned.

Not in the pros.

Tell that to David Andrews. He was #3 center for the Patriots and only got in because 1 and 2 were injured. By the end of the season the Patriots traded 1 and 2.

My thoughts all along was Kirby and Monken are at practice every day. They know what they see and are guided by it.

Stetson came on during the season and wound up being MVP in the Orange bowl and NCG. In the fourth Q of the NCG tell me the guy was not playing at a high level.

Can't hate JT. Dude has one more year to put enough film out there to make a career out of this football thing. He wants a sure thing and I'm sure he's one of those folks who held off on announcing to not damage the team. But while he finished out the season, he seemed to be the best teammate you could ask for.

Gotta give him credit for that. That’s a tough spot. Wish the best for him. He will always have that ring and that’s something few people earn.
