At the end of the day, it's about trusting the coaches. We may have our favorite players, but we only get to see a few hours a week on TV during game time and read snippets of reports from media guys who are mostly speculating anyway. As has been said, the coaches are there for everything.

Whatever we think of the individual players, I think our coach has earned the right to our trust with personnel decisions.

Too bad he didn't just smile and thank everyone in the hours and days after the game. Between the veiled threats to leave UGA if a transfer portal QB is brought in (seriously, where's he going to go? Transfer to another program as a 25-year-old, seventh year senior? Right...), and the whining by him and dad about football forum comments (that he claims to ignore), he started to come off like an entitled little dude. Not a good look.
Why did you pivot away from Bennett's contribution to our championship and to the "look" you're assigning to him after the game?

You said that, in your book, Stet contributed to this championship as much as Buck Belue contributed to our 1980 championship, at least in terms of credit. I responded saying that the two situations aren't even comparable due to Bennet's contributions vs. Belue's in the stat line alone, and instead of refuting that, you switched to saying Bennett's words after the game aren't a good look for him. That's irrelevant to the discussion about Bennett's contributions to our championship.

You need to give it up: you're holding a losing hand and bluffing against players who know what you've got. Fold your cards. They're terrible and you continuing to play them make you look really, really bad.

Further, Buck was annoying with his skepticism of Bennett. He is literally the last person on the planet who should complain about someone like bennett.

All the best to JT. I look forward to seeing him play elsewhere in college and in the NFL.
He was part of the journey that helped us clinch the CFP, and appreciate his contribution and wish him the best moving forward.

I was always kind of scratching my head with JT coming. I think at the time, Newman was still on the roster. UGA didn't seem like a good fit although Monken was talking about running more of an air raid offense. I know some are speculating he could go to Ga Southern. He could walk in there and start without question. It seems if he goes to another SEC or Power 5 school he may not be guaranteed to start.

I don't think anybody dislikes JT at all. I wish nothing but the best for him and hate that it didn't work out at UGA. I personally wish him nothing but success (as long as he isn't playing UGA) in the future. I just don't agree with the constant bashing of Stetson Bennett...he has apparently worked his arse off and earned the respect of the coaches and his teammates....and was good enough to earn MVP honors in the Orange Bowl and National Championship game. He made mistakes but he also delivered some big time, clutch plays that delivered a long awaited NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP...yet that isn't good enough for so many in the Georgia fanbase.

That's what gets me.

Most people would beg for a returning QB who can do good things for the offense.

I read somewhere that Stets QBR was 4th in the country.
His pass efficiency is the best at UGA going back to 2009 (with the exception of Daniels 4 games in 2020).

Who in their right mind would say "i hope he doesnt return"?

I would love to see JT go to Oregon and beat out Bo Nix. Can’t wait to make that guy look stupid again.

I didn't realize that I wasn't permitted to make comments beyond what you were looking for.

Different eras, different offenses, many differences. But I think the talent level as QBs and relative contribution to those winning seasons are roughly in the same ballpark.

I have zero interest in what five or six randoms on a football forum think of me. (That seems to be what's bothering some of you). I will continue to hold the same view of Bennett that I've had all along.

I mean, you could start a forum devoted solely to praising Stetson Bennett as a player and a person and control the membership, right?

No, you are entitled to your opinion....you just suck as a fan of UGA. But keep on with the hot takes. You know more than the coaches and the players....it shows more and more.

Kind of meaningless. I can be a fan of UGA regardless of my opinion of Bennett or how much I "like" him.

By the way, a sizeable number of UGA fans have expressed opinions along the lines of, "Thanks Bennett for your service but maybe it's time to move on" or "You're 25 - law school is calling." Check out some other boards. Maybe you shouldn't limit yourself to only this UGA forum. Ah well...I guess they all suck as UGA fans. The CüntNation must be bigger than you thought.

If Stet entered the portal tomorrow, which schools do you think would pick him up? Any with CFP aspirations? Any SEC schools?

^^^THIS^^^

This is the unbridled truth. No contender with CFP aspirations that just needs the final piece of the puzzle at QB would pick him up. That's why his insinuation that he would transfer if not given certain guarantees shows such a humorous level of ego.

If I were Kirby, I would have called that bluff on principle alone...and then sent Stet a post card when we won a title next season with (name a QB: BVG, Jaxson Dart, Daniels if he returned...any number of candidates).

I bet you would be surprised. Stetson was getting praise from he coaching staff and players alike in 2017 for running the scout team offense. When is the last time anyone was bragging publicly about a scout team QB? Guess this conspiracy was put in motion 4 years ago.

I can pull up multiple quotes from various points this season of Smart praising Brock Vandagriff for his work with the scout team.

Because if you're a CFP contender, you're probably pretty well set at the QB position. I don't want to have to rely on a true freshman or a not quite ready BVG next year. I hope Stet comes back while those guys are getting ready to play.
