If we get Williams, that tells me that BVG and Beck didn’t live up to their hype.

As of a short time ago:

Not hearing much traction at all with #UGA and Caleb Williams. Early buzz I continue to hear is at #USC. This will go a million directions next 24 hours, but have heard nothing to say he ends up at Georgia.

Vandagriff has apparently been really struggling all year unfortunately

This seems ironic considering that Smart went out of his way to praise how well Vandagriff was practicing in the lead up to the Michigan game. Coach speak?

Williams was the unquestioned starter once he displaced Rattler, right? Why would a guy who's got the job already leave a cush gig like QB1 at Oklahoma unless he doesn't have any faith in Venables and the incoming staff?

Were it to come out that Williams was in love with Riley's scheme, Southern Cal would be the most logical spot, since he would be following his coach.

It sounds like things are really bad in Norman.

If you could tell me it means Williams and then Arch.. maybe..

But I think he’s headed to USC and he’s using UGA as bargaining.. UGA doesn’t need these distractions this week.

Pretty good take on this situation from the AJC Dawgs.

Blaming Kirby for Eason and Jamie Newman? I think that is a terrible take. Eason got beat out and Jamie Newman decided to opt out.

If you're the parents of a 5-star QB with NFL skills and aspirations, do you want to trust Kirby with your kid's future? Kirby clearly is of an old school vein that doesn't want the QB to be central. He also hasn't done well with QB's who aren't, well, small town good 'ol boy. Maybe he likes those who he sees as similar to himself?

If I'm Arch Manning or his parents, I'm sure I'm wondering if this is the place to launch myself into the NFL as a QB. Stafford was the last true NFL caliber QB we recruited and kept...and that pre-dated Smart.

Hopefully Vandagriff or Stockton are the real deal.

Agree, he's not done well at all. But, Washington hasn't had many chances, and I'm not happy about that. So, he may well be fuming.

Arch didn't exactly light things up and definitely didn't live up to the rankings, but then again that name is what wins games.

Same old soundbite.

This totally ignores the fact that JT was named our starter this year until he was hurt, plus he played the final 4 games of last year based on his performance and not his geographical origin.

And totally ignores the fact we started Dwan Mathis from Michigan before he had to be pulled.

And totally ignores the fact we started Eason before he hurt himself.

It's all just Cünt Talk.

He seems like another potential problem shopping himself out to the highest bidder. I’ll take the guys we have in the QB room now that committed to the G.

Personally I want to see BVG rise up. That kids a monster.

And ignores the fact Eason couldn’t be bothered to study game film and not party too much. Talent doesn’t mean shite if you don’t apply yourself.

The fact Kirby coached up a three star walk on to lead the team to a national title game says enough.

I start having visions of the Justin Fields debacle dancing in my head. Why would he want to come here? QB room seems to be very full. I’ve read that neither Stet nor JT are leaving. I can’t see Kirby playing Caleb over those guys. Maybe I’m wrong?

Or QBs that get injured and lose their spot (Eason, JT), aren’t willing to work or put in the time to earn their spot (Fields) or flat out quit (Newman).

We don’t need another primadonna that expects to be given the job rather than being prepared to earn it.

JT

Sure got pulled out of games quickly early season to give Bennett a chance to play...though the door never seemed to swing the other way when JT was (allegedly) fully healthy later in the season. Very unusual for someone who had been the starter. It better turn out that Daniels was secretly more injured all year than publically announced or it's only going to reinforce the notion.

Mathis got pulled after one game and was never given a chance or seen again. Fields...well...we know what happened there. Kirby definitely did not like his attitude of wanting a real chance at starting. I suspect he was too "uppity" for Kirby. Which is why I would be shocked to see someone like Caleb Williams wanting to play for him.

When I see Kirby going a full season supporting a non-local kid who doesn't fit his mold - I'll believe it. His QB management record is shaky until proven otherwise.

And once again all you arm chair coaches still blame it all on Kirby without ever mentioning that Chaney, Coley and Monken have input into who plays QB. Damn, just damn.
