Maybe, but so would a 230lb back.

While we're wishing, I'd also love to have Champ Bailey and Roquan on this squad.

ETA: And Ben Watson. That would help a lot.

Stop being stubborn and assuming 7 blockers can block 9 defenders. Throw the ball if the other team stacks the box.

Why wouldn’t we line up in our standard formation and force them to cover the whole field? Just because it’s 4th and 1 we don’t have to automatically dial up a dive play. And if you do run it you're not running into 9 guys.

Seems like a lot you could do there.

I agree spread them out and let Cook dance it up 1 yard....stacking everyone in a small area makes it easier to defend. Oh and I got Zeus on 4th and 1 all day over even Swift.

I have to admit I shortchanged BH. He's doing a much better job of running to space instead of running to contact.

He's looking like a great short yardage option.

I say, under Center QB sneak or... just do what we normally do on any other down. Our dive works good when they are spread out and respecting the pass and the edge. It doesn’t when they know it is coming.

I still struggle to grasp why we continue to put 8 or 9 men in the box while the defense puts 9-10 in the box and then run it straight up the center. We saw at UF last year, UK last year, against UT, and hell I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting that that simply doesn't work. Watch bama, clemson, OU, OSU, or any other big time team on a 4th and 1. Not a single one of them line up in a jumbo set like we do.

I dont' see why we dont' put 4 WRs wide with jake under center and zeus at RB. That automatically removes a ton of people from the box and clears out the LOS. Jake can sneak it if that's there, zeus has shown to be a battering ram, or you've got a quick slant or hitch at your disposal. I just don't know why we take all these options off the table and essentially limit ourselves to only 1 option, which is run the RB directly up the center's arse into a mass of 10 bodies. Makes no sense.

QB sneaks are 88% more likely to succeed on 1 yards or less.

Kirby brought up a good point when asked. If we're under center it takes away options and allows the DL to submarine our OL and get a better push. Out of the option they have to stay balanced and can't submarine our OL.

Kirby should watch video of Herschel going over the top to score TDs. He did it for 3 seasons. The reason it isn't successful on goal line plays is our OL doesn't get push on the DL.

Playcall left him unblocked.

3 times.

That is worse than a blown assignment.

It isnt uncommon to leave an edge defender unblocked on an inside run. But to let it get blown up 2 times by the same unblocked defender???

Fromm is so good with the ball it seems the easiest solution is to just run a play and let him call us into the right one. Has he still only missed on pass inside of 10 yards?

Against tennessee, we tried a hurry up.

That kind of defeats Fromm's strength.

We're too predictable, and no matter how good your line is, if the other team knows what you're going to do and they stack the line and even run blitz, you're not going to convert in those situations very often.

If we insist on running up the gut, make sure it's Herrien doing it. Swift is unbelievably gifted but he's often too hesitant on those plays, and Herrien lives for the physicality.

True. In that case, I also request a time machine.
