Aye. But please allow some thoughts.
Leach to Miss State
Kiffen to Ole Miss
Pittman to Arky
All teams are better than TAMU. And they got good a lot faster.
My take regrettably, Jimbo is not a good hire. Make him he recruiting coordinator.

Jimbo had Mond for however many years. He seems to have trouble identifying the next man up.

He’s not ever going to give up offensive control. Even if he hires an OC we’re going to run his offense his way. It’ll be just like Gus Malzahn at Auburn.

The only way to change the offense is to fire him.

I don't believe he has 5 years to get better. I'm assuming those given the charge to think out in the future are already identifying the next candidate. And it doesn't matter if we have high recruiting classes because Miss State does more with less. Shite is frustrating to watch.

Jimbo can still be a great hire. He can still be a great HC.

He’s got to hire an OC and actually let them be the OC.

TA keeps throwing out hiring an analyst that will challenge him/make him better and let him still call plays, which is obviously fine if it works, but I have 0 faith it would. Hire a great OC and let them do their job.

Definitely needs a spark. Why recruit 4-5* qbs and not use them?

The idea that an analyst could tweak Jimbo's offense to an acceptable level is laughable.

It isn't a tweak. Only a systemic failure could cause this kind of undetperformance relative to the assets at hand. Maybe we prioritize recruiting over player development? We clearly have an offense that at best is outmoded and at worst is unable to adapt to the resources it has. I think Jimbo is on the way to being F'd. His saving grace has been recruiting, but recruits expect to be able to perform in your system.

The sell has been "Jimbo is NFL lite. If you can do it for him, the NFL will love you."

The reality is "The NFL doesn't look like Jimbo anymore. Go to A&m, go 8-4 in a good year, and your draft stock is meh."

Yeah, sign me up.

There is nothing wrong with saying "I need to
focus on the team as a whole." Or "it is easier to see from the booth."

But continuing to say "we gotta coach better" Is insane at that price while fans say "young team" in year 5 is ignoring the facts.

Not beating Alabama is excusable. Losing to MST on the reg, and to App State is straight up unacceptable. What happens next year? "ACU is a really grtod team. They out played us, out coached us, and deserved to win today. We will evaluate the tape, and do what we need to do to be a better football team.
But we are getting closer."

Bullshiite.

Yes. His system is bad. We need to run something entirely different. I’m skeptical that happens with him in charge

For a second, I wonder how Jimbo would even manage to hire a good OC. I don't know that he's ever had an offensive assistant under him go on to any notable success, so I'm not convinced he even knows what to look for. And presumably whatever he aims for in a OC hire will be some sort of extension of his own (outdated) beliefs and approach.

Then I realize that it really couldn't get any worse, so no harm in trying.

Coach Darrell Dickey was OC at Memphis before joining the A&M staff and in his last year at Memphis his Offense was ranked #4 overall in country. Averaged 335 yards passing and 197 rushing yards per game. 532 yards/game average in 2017. Don't know if he's still got it but he did at one time. Just a thought.

I wonder how much of that was Dickey and how much was Norvell.

And that would feel too much like a half measure, handing playcalling over to Dickey. I think this move requires going completely outside the current regime. No old guys (Dickey was first an OC in the 80s) and no one infected by - or responsible for - the current malaise.

From a post on the premium board this week, A&M offensive ranks through this week.

Offensive plays per game. Dead last.
Fourth down attempts. Dead last
Scoring. 108th
Rush yds per game. 97th
Rushing TDs. 97th
Pass yds per game. 102nd
First downs. 101st
3rd down conversions. 95th
TFLs allowed. 95th
Total offense. 105th

I guess you could say those numbers are.... offensive
