He's not "better" right now. Especially since he can't run like Murray.

Not admitting Allen was the worst option tonight is just stubbornness.

I have to believe Murray would have been in if he wasn't apparently in the doghouse

Hubenak also looked better than Allen

Never said Allen was the best option. Just that he's the better qb at this point in time. He's hurt so he shouldn't have been in when he showed it was bothering him. Hubeneck should have been in the game.

He's inaccurate, Charmin soft and mentally weak. He has terrible footwork, rarely sets his feet, has one of the longest wide-ups I've ever seen and doesn't go through his progressions.

It's time to let Kyler learn on the fly.

Not to be rude, but this is a myopic, blinders-on post that ignores everything that's going on around him. You can blame our OL for his footwork. It was fantastic 6 weeks ago, but getting pummeled behind the LOS over and over has him hearing footsteps. He barely even bothers with setting his feet now, he's just trying to fire that shite out before the sack comes (yes I realize this is overflowing with sexual innuendo). Anyway, it's disappointing. He used to have a nice, full-body throwing motion, but that's almost completely gone after the last few weeks.

I strongly disagree that he's Charmin soft. He's maybe 200 pounds and he's taken several monster shots to his throwing shoulder (both from tacklers and from being pile driven into the ground). You can call that weakness if you like, but when you're fricked up, you're fricked up. You can gut through pain, but it's tough to perform perfectly when you're legitimately jacked up (and especially when you're hearing footsteps).

Am I saying he's perfect? Hell no. A decent chunk of the sacks are on him and he's made a fair number of bad decisions too. But when you take a passing QB and:
1) give him awful protection so that he's perpetually worried about taking sacks and can't focus on passing
2) have him run the fricking zone read and take off on other designed runs, even though he's too damn skinny and takes a lot of big hits
3) give him no running game support
4) more often that not, give him sub-par play calling
5) and put him into a system that's best described as incoherent and identity-less

You're setting him up to fail in horrible, epic fashion.

And by the way, from what I've seen, Kyler's got a major skill-set problem. He's looked legitimately awful every time he's tried to pass. He's fired passes into the turf 3 yards in front of receivers and when he's gone deep, he's put a metric frick ton of air under the ball and didn't read the safeties at all (supposedly this is a problem in practice too, so we're not just talking about a sample size of 2). Also, he seems to have a huge entitlement/ego problem to go with his ineptitude. Despite making bad decisions and missing receivers in the short range passing game, he wants the full package.

If you're going to bench Allen right now (and I think we should), you have to replace him with Hubenak. If we switch to Kyler, he'll miss a lot of passes and do his water bug shite until he gets pancaked, and then he seriously might die. That dude's considerably smaller than Danny Woodhead. 5'11 185 is a load of shite. He's 5'8 or 5'9 and 170-175.

I would rather lose every game the rest of the year with Kyler than win them with Kyle. That will insure that Kyler is "ready to play" next year.

Still one of the greatest troll threads I ever saw on TexAgs.

3 years later and it was actually pretty accurate.

The entire Murray family can now be claimed by Oklahoma. Good riddance.

You really think Murray will give us a better chance to win games? The kid isn't ready for the SEC yet, he should have been redshirted. Quarterbacks have bad games, this was Kyle's first truly bad game. Yes is concerning that it came after two week of preparation but tap the brakes, it was one game. If he comes out flat against ole miss, then we have a problem. Y'all are so desperate for Murray to be manziel 2.0, I feel bad for the kid that if he doesn't live up to expectations how quickly our fan base will likely turn on him too

Wow, 3+ years ago. I still stand by my statement that Kyler was nowhere near ready to play in the SEC, although it does look like overall he’s a better player than Allen.

Some foreshadowing there in my comment about ifbhe looks bad against ole miss then we have a problem....that was the game where he was like 3 of 20 or something right? Ouch. Of course apparently he was hurt and Sumlin wouldn’t tell anyone.

Yes the Ole Miss game was the complete meltdown by our coaches & QBs. Allen hurt, Murray suspended, Hubenak stuck on the sideline and Sumlin/Spav looking clueless

We crossed the Rubicon of the Sumlin era in that ole miss game.

Few times have I watched a debacle unfold before my eyes in real time in such abject horror.

Me from basically the 2nd quarter on everytime they sent Allen back out there:

I originally started my previous post by saying that was the beginning of the end for Sumlin, but we gave that mofo 2 more years
