Congrats. Can any of them play QB?
re: If you had to put together a team to make it to the playoffs who would you pick?

I'd pick Mike Elko to coach it in September and October and literally anybody else to coach it in November.

frick ND, but if any fan base doesn't deserve a championship it's ped state.

Pet Semetary was his scariest work imo Only because I would've done exactly the same things our protagonist did. Dealing with loss is a hell of a mindfrick.
Having no idea what Pet Semetary was about, I coincidentally read when it my son was about to turn 2. The back half or third or whatever was hard to read. It isn't scary in a "woooo ghosts and goblins!" way, but because it surfaces your worst fears and then slaps an awful, yet disturbingly relatable, horror story on top of them.
Jesus. That book haunted me. I'd be walking the dog weeks afterwards and realize I was thinking about it.
Also, it's one of the few King books with a quality ending.
re: Elon, by Isaacson, Cash, by Johnny Cash

the Elon biography is worth a read. It's fascinating to see how childhood neglect, insane drive and focus, and intelligence all came together to create one of the richest men to ever live. Also, I don't care how hard you work that guy will make you feel lazy. He put in investment banking associate hours for ~3 decades.
Haven't read Cash.

re: If I gave you $1,000,000 to bet on who would win in Bama vs SMU, who would you bet?

What would records be if bama played smu schedule and smu bamas. You had to bet a million. Could bama be 11-2 or better? Probably undefeated with Clemson a semi toss up
You lost to Vanderbilt and were blown out by Oklahoma. Alabama wouldn't go undefeated against a high school schedule.

Don't like it, but this is correct. A 10-2 SEC team finishes in the CFP Committee's top 12 100x out of 100.

Thankfully Carson Beck isn't throwing 3 picks a game so he should be able to carry the offense
re: Horror recommendations

I loved Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge, which is kind of like a cross between The Purge and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
To me, it seems like the perfect fall horror book: season and ambiance are a big part of the book (the bad guy is called October Boy), and the author works hard to pull you into both.
(It's better as a pre-halloween read but whaddya gonna do?)

re: Worse hire, Jimbo or Kelly?

I'm not sure, but hopefully Scott Woodward will hire Jimbo after he fires Kelly and we'll get to find out.
re: What is each SEC team’s best win?

For A&M, I'd change it to McNeese State or Bowling Green at home. None of the other teams on our schedule have been very impressive
re: Is Kentucky Making A Bowl This Year?
Posted by Ash'sProstheticHand on 10/20/24 at 9:06 am
Nah man, but even funnier is OU. That defense is overrated and Venables couldn't install a passing attack if you spotted him Peyton Manning at QB and God at WR.

Mizzou made it to Atlanta, Aggy never will.
Not denying our always a bridesmaid never a bride history that could lead one to reasonably conclude that Kyle Field was built on an Indian graveyard, but NIL and the transfer portal changed the game. The "take 4 years to develop your players and integrate them into your program culture" days are long gone. You're gonna see traditional powers lose/be outbid on star players, and teams generally shuffling pieces around like crazy. Think John Calipari in his 1-and-done heyday except every program is gonna be doing it.
In short, I don't know WTF to expect, but I'm sure a lot of poons on the rant will complain about it and accuse the winners of cheating
re: How are Bammers feeling about DeBooo?
Posted by Ash'sProstheticHand on 10/13/24 at 6:42 pm
Fans of a team are fickle and overreact, but a good reliable gauge of a coach's quality is whether fans of rival teams want the coach to stay.
It's early, but right now most of the rant likes the idea of DeBoer coaching at Alabama for a long time.

re: Tennessee is ahead of A&M

The AP and coaches polls are the best example I've ever seen of anchoring bias. Unless you lose, it's almost impossible to drop more than a spot or two no matter how awful you looked.
Way back in 2007 I watched A&M barely beat Fresno State at home due to a fluke unforced fumble (if Fresno hadn't fumbled, they would have won). We avoided a loss to a mid major only because of a 1 in a 1000 play, yet the polls came out the next day and A&M had climbed a few spots. That's still the general SOP: make your preseason rankings and then adjust them based on W/L and nothing else. Other than top 5 matchups, SOS is almost completely ignored.

Wait so LSU loses in the last minute and it's "a back and forth affair," but A&M is tied with 2 minutes left in the game (gave up the go-ahead with 1:54 left) and we "look like complete dog shite"?
You seem really smart. Are you on Les Mile... I mean Brian Kelly's staff?

The whole game was so funny to watch. Ole Miss had about 10 chances to put it away, but they kept dropping big passes and interceptions and shanking kicks, and on the final LSU drive of regulation gave up, what, 3 4th down conversations?
It's was like every time they started to play great football, they remembered they were Ole Miss and let LSU back in the game.

Wait you guys lost to 3-3 USC and you're getting on us for losing to 5-1 ND?
