Saw it with extended family today. It was solid and faithful. While I had my eye rolling at the race swaps, they didn’t make a thing of it which is all I can ask for. The kids/trainees cast were pretty weak.
The only “improvement” was the interaction with Stoic and Hiccup before he takes off to fight the alpha with Toothless. Had a bit more gravity with live actors. The whole third act was miles better than the first two.
Worthy of a watch.

re: Is the raunchy high school/college comedy genre dead?
Posted by 3nOut on 6/13/25 at 11:19 am
Ricky Stanicky wasn't great, but fell in this realm. not HS/College but raunchy comedy.
But yeah, it mostly died.
I'm not the biggest critic of "woke" and call everything that, but the mid 2010s killed off the genre. toxic acting males just aren't en vogue.
a series that tetered on this was Obliterated. Plenty of woke/gay/race stuff, but it was pretty hilarious, poked fun at itself, and had the raunchy humor meant in the OP.

do right/center leaning people like Parker?
i know that most people i agree with politically liked Ed and didn't hate Turner for the most part, but were sad to see Higalgo (re)elected and glad to see SJL lose.
While most people are going to know what you mean with Dora...

the myth behind Kent State will allow any violence against rioters and protestors to call anything like this overreach and authortarian.
it's not, but it will be called that.

The combined efforts of EBR EMS and OLOL trauma care saves TONS of gunshot victims that would've died 10-20 years ago. BR murder rates would be 200+ a year if EMS and the ER were operating with the knowledge and tech they were using in 2005.
i heard it somewhere that we are not a less violent people, we just have better technology to make violence become assault and attempted murder instead of murder.
combine that with a cell phone and the ability to call emergency services and stay with somebody and listen to a 911 operator keep them alive instead of having to run inside to a land line.
:dunno:

Stein has always loved the Big Booty Latinas. Which, despite her leftism, has made him fall in love with AOC.

it's an interesting case study of Hollywood because at the time, most people were like "hell yeah, i get it." And it had decent reviews.
then in the 2010s, they realized that he was calling out bad behavior and that wasn't acceptable and it became a white supremacist movie.

6. Saved by WF in the last one. This was a decent one.
3 on one frame.
Speaking of WF. We started “you’re cordially invited” last night. I don’t bail on movies often but that was warmed over dogshit.
What an insulting caricature of southerners and Gen Z.

I guess I'm the only one that liked Asteroid City? The play thing was pretentious and, as always, the dialogue is bloviating, but I found it charming.
french dispatch is the only one i was really disappointed in and could take or leave.

re: Jared Leto Accused of Sexual Misconduct by Multiple Women
Posted by 3nOut on 6/9/25 at 1:04 pm
Leto and Brand are two dudes who I just assumed plowed through a share of women that were willing and unwilling due to the cult of personality. For the most part, the unwilling were just working off of drugs, alcohol, and bad choices.
Leto seems to be the same psycho he was years ago.
Brand seems to have had a genuine change of heart. Not that I think he shouldn't be held accountable for his actions, but I'm willing to bet that the accusers of both were willing to accept their bad behavior because they were with a star and then had regret.
this is not to say that if there's a legit sexual assault in there, it shouldn't be prosecuted to the fullest extent; it should. I'm just more of the mind that women let them do inappropriate things and were willing to let it slide because they were with a star than they would have with Jim from Accounting and now have regret.
e.g. you go on a nice date with Jim from accounting and after a while you decide to have sex. after Jim says, you mind if i pee on you? OMG what a disgusting pervert.
You catch Tom Brady's eye and get whisked away for a night of drinking and fornication and afterwards he says he wants to pee on you. Most ladies (whether they admit it or not) would be way more OK with Tom's actions, because it's Tom Brady. Disgusting in both instances, of course.
I reserve the right to say "i was wrong, that was rape brother."
