Does anyone honestly think Sumlin can take this team into Death Valley and beat LSU?

This question is effectively irrelevant

With this kind of realistic rationale half the threads on Texags wouldn’t exist.

Saw one last week where someone asked if we really needed a HC. Like just let two coordinators run the program

I get trying to think outside the box but there is a very good reason nobody has ever done it. You need a CEO of a team, not two guys with equal say.

Would I bet my own money on it? No. But the Ags with a rapidly developing Starkel are a dangerous team, and it shouldn't be a cakewalk for the corndogs. Nevertheless, it's irrelevant. If you're in contention on Sunday and shoot 50 on the front, tearing it up on the back doesn't amount to squat. The coach has a strong pattern of not winning games that matter, when they matter.

We can't run the ball AT ALL and LSU has a great secondary.

Nope. No one is expecting A&M to win in Baton Rouge.

Probably won't beat Ole Miss either.

Does Sumlin get Kiffin’d in Oxford if we lose on Saturday?

I can't see it happening unless it is a very unlikely Ole Miss blowout. Say 59-0. What would be the point? But I can't see the Aggies taking one in Baton Rouge in any case, and even if they do I think it is surely a done deal (crossing fingers). My old lady with his godawful golf analogy actually made sense... still wrapping my head around that.

I cannot accept any reasoning that led to sticking with Mond for Auburn.

Really? A 90-yard pick six doesn't give you pause? Because that was, you know, kind of important.

I'm all in on Starkel, too, but blaming the coaching staff for dragging their heels on this doesn't make sense to me.

No. It gave me no pause b/c even with that he still obviously had a better command of the offense.

Starkel Was only available for Mississippi State as an emergency back up according to the coaches, to me that means his ankle wasn’t 100% ready

I do think Auburn was the first time we could consider Starkle truly healthy enough to play. I thought he should have played against Florida, but I can't hold it against Sumlin if he was looking out for the kid's health.

Now all the BS about Mond being the starter, I can't defend him for that. He should have said "Starkle available for emergencies but we don't want to jeopardize his long term for the short term. You don't lose your job to injury around here. When he is ready, he will play." It was clear that Mond wasn't the best option even when Starkle was on a bum ankle. That whole deal just made Sumlin look like he was blind.

If he was an emergency backup he should have never played vs Miss State. He did which indicates that line is bullshite.

Dr. Tridentds,
On what date do you think Starkel should have resumed his duties after a broken ankle on September 3

The report for the Florida game was that he was ready and available to play. Not my report, the one from the Ags.

I didn't call for him to start vs State and Sumlin went with Mond. Yes, I do realize that Mond was dazzling vs State going 8-26 for 56 total yards. I thought Mond would go first series of 2nd half and then they would put Starkel in... while it was still a game. Sumlin left Mond in much longer in an attempt to let him pass for over 50 yards I guess.

I did think that after that game Starkel would start vs Auburn. I was shocked Sumlin went with Mond and had a thread to that effect. Once again, Mond had a brilliant game throwing for a grand total of 16 yards. Starkel came in late thanks to Sumlin's mastery of the QB position.

Therefore, the answer to your question is I think Starkel CLEARLY AND WITHOUT A frickING DOUBT should have started vs Auburn. That was the FIRST time I said he should be starting.

I am no doctor but it would seem reasonable that if Starkel was in good enough health to be available vs Florida and in good enough health to play a quarter vs State that he should have been healthy enough to start vs Auburn. If he wasn't healthy enough to start vs Auburn then Sumlin needs to answer for him playing the PREVIOUS WEEK.

Sumlin should've been gone years ago. You want to keep him! Man the Aggies drink way to much koolaid. Look at sumlin's numbers since Manziel, beaten like 1 top 25 team at Kyle field? You think he'll waltz into Baton Rouge and beat LSU.... when he couldn't do that with a senior D, Manziel, and Evans? Wake up ole sarge and quit drinking koolaid. Been time to roll heads in college station, too soft of a program, too nice

I never said I think he’ll win at LSU this year

I asked a “what if” question

“If” he did win his next two games is it fair to fire him when his starting qb went down in week 1?
