Also if we did indeed have a coach who came from Nevada 20+ years ago and was successful here it’s an absolutely meaningless thing to hire someone on

No, but even I know better than to give a contract extension with two weeks left to go in the season IN THE MIDDLE OF A 5 GAME LOSING STREAK plus a guaranteed buyout that handcuffs my organization later for a coach that no one was going to poach.

Yes, Billy's status as the 9th highest paid basketball coach in the SEC, despite being one of only two (three?) who have actually won an SEC conference championship is a killer. And the 2 million dollar buyout that he's due if we fire him after this season is a killer! It's unheard of in college basketball!

Frank Martin - Final Four coach at multiple schools

Tom Crean - Elite 8 coach at Indiana

Rick Barnes - Final Four coach at t.u.

John Calipari - Championship coach

Ben Howland - Final Four coach at UCLA

Bruce Pearl - Sweet 16 coach at Tennessee

Mike White - Elite 8 coach

If he's paid more than any of the above coaches he is overpaid. Even Will Wade from LSU has a far greater upside.

And it's not 2 million, it is almost 4 if fired before May 15th.

Missouri game is a shite show on both sides right now.

Missouri up 36-21 at the half.

Need to lock down Kennedy for 100 years with a guaranteed buyout of 8 Billion.

Agree. Everything doesn't need to be treated as a system of math equations

It's $3.5M until May 14, then drops to $2M

Watching this ugliness vs Mizzou we need to cut a check on Tuesday. Normally I'd say Monday, but that's a holiday and the banks are closed.

I don’t care what the record says at the end of the season, I saw both and this team is worse than Melvin’s 0-16 team.

Just AWFUL

U R bad Aggy. You critical of coach. Turgeon's fault!

A&M went over 11 minutes of game time without a field goal.

Wow. It's SILENT at Reed.

That Watkins team did have 2 of the best players to every player for A&M. There's almost nothing to be excited about with this team, unless you think Starks is salvageable. Flagg should be a good player the next few years but what else is there to look forward to?

Kennedy earned a 40-year guaranteed contract for $500 million today.

Exemplary coaching. We can't POSSIBLY do better.

It's unrealistic to expect to stay within 20 points at home against a Missouri team that hadn't won a conference game.

I don't think anyone has ever said that. Not even Pat.

He has. Hes even taken it a step further saying we dont deserve better because we can't appreciate what we have in BK

Not like it matters. Even if we actually hire a legitimately decent coach who turns us back into a consistent tournament team, he will just leave us once an ACC or big east job opens up

I'd rather have that problem than what we have now.

A coach who comes to A&M knowing if he does well he can advance is orders of magnitude better than the alternative.

Oh, and collectors wearing Maroon jackets need to show up to the Torn residence and take the buyout money from him by force.

We don't deserve better, but it has nothing to do with BK. After BCG left, we continued to not give a shite about bball. Why on earth should we expect to not suck when the program doesn't get any support?

And yea, fire his arse. It's clearly over. Or at least let him resign with dignity and go retire in peace, which is probably what will happen after the season.

Attendence kept going up after BCG left. I think it was double under Turgeon what it was under Melvin.

And of course it's getting back in Melvin territory under Kennedy. Fans to seem to know better than the athletic department or the few donors who influence decisions what good basketball looks like

Nothing to see here, just Kennedy throwing his players under the bus again.

quote:

A very somber media meeting with Texas A&M HC Billy Kennedy after a beating at the hand of Missouri. Said this loss is rock bottom to him. Also said he is having trouble getting consistent good effort out of his players at practice.
