We’re still talking about basketball this season?

Did A&M just beat a tournament team on the road?
A&M just beat a tournament team on the road.
The last time A&M made a 3pt shot to win a conference game while 0-2 in conference was in 1928 and they then went on to win out the rest of the season.

They beat a NIT tournament team on the road. Still not sure how they managed to do that.

We scored more points than Alabama did.

I may have won the game for my team, but i just want to credit the coaching staff for an awesome game plan as well as my teammates for being tough and making incredible plays in tough moments. I love this game!!! #HappyFlightHome

I stand by my post on the first page.
We are terrible. BK needs to go. He coaches us to underwhelming finishes when we have top tier talent. And now this?

On a Saturday with below 50% chance of rain while the coach was wearing mismatched socks...

This thread can't be unstickied any more than BK's balls can be unstickied from Roger's forehead

Why do you like him so much? Serious question. And none of your usual dishonesty about him being a good coach.
Posted on 1/15/19 at 7:55 am to AggieDub14
Well he’s not a good coach, he’s a great coach

Honest answer: he’s brought us to two sweet sixteens in three years. The only legit time that happened prior to BCG was 1980. BCG went once, Turgeon never went.
Even if he’s as terrible of a coach as the sky screamers say, he’s still undeniably a great recruiter. Yet he doesn’t get credit for that? Do you really think it’s our natural basketball program clout pulling them in? How many players have to gush about him personally for him to get credit? Not whichever assistant everyone wants to pin our success on, him.
Some will point to his early years as negating everything, which is patently ridiculous, but I truly believe that Turgeon wrecked the program for at least a few years. He took what BCG has built and crapped all over it: poor recruiting, insulting the fans. He personally killed my want to watch our teams with his postgame pressers.
On top of all that, he’s a great guy. But of course that’s somehow seen as a negative to most of the online community. He’s fought through adversity and brought our program the greatest success it’s ever seen.
We’re a top 75 program playing like a top 25 program over the past few years, and Billy is the reason for that. If you think we’re going to be pulling in top 10 recruiting classes every year and making consistent deep tournament runs, you’re absolutely delusional. Even BCG going the beat scrappy low talent players into submission route couldn’t do it consistently.
We’re a large football school with limited basketball interest, and two sweet sixteens in three years is way above where we should be based on our program.

You know as well as I do that if it weren't for members of the Higgins family, Turgeon would have taken A&M to the Elite 8 in 2008 and likely the Final Four in 2010.
You simply cannot argue this.
Tim Higgins made the infamous no-call on Sloan's final drive against UCLA in 2008 and John Higgins was the head referee who fricked A&M over against Purdue in 2010.
We would have faced 12-seed Western Kentucky in the Sweet 16 in 2008 and the eventual National Champion Duke (who we surprisingly matched up well with) followed by a ridiculously overrated Baylor team in 2010.
In fact, let's go over each coach's tournament appearances and exits:
Gillispie
2006 2nd Round: 30-foot prayer by LSU beats A&M, else it could have been a Final Four run
2007 Sweet 16: Inexplicable layup miss by Acie Law prevented a possible Final Four appearance (we would have beaten Ohio State)
Turgeon
2008 2nd Round: frick Tim Higgins
2009 2nd Round: Beaten badly by a much better UConn team
2010 2nd Round: frick John Higgins
2011 1st Round: Just a poor performance all around against Florida State.
Kennedy (wait a sec...why is there a 5 year gap? Was Turgeon so bad that his effects were still felt for four straight years?!!)
2016 Sweet 16: Badly beaten by a less talented Oklahoma team.
2018 Sweet 16: Horribly beaten by a less talented Michigan team.

This is the basis of your argument. Guess what? So was Kevin Sumlin.
Posted on 1/15/19 at 12:49 pm to AggieDub14
No, Sumlin was a decent recruiter

Recruiting isnt worth much if you cant produce results. And when you have an amazing team and you squander the talent, it means you're a bad coach.
