I suspect that message is being taken to heart by the defense this week. They will be ready.
All I know is that I think we hired the right guy and the games will be exciting.

I only got to see parts of the game. But I saw a vastly improved WR corps and we were playing a competent opponent. After that TD run to start the 3rd qtr, the defense got the memo and played better.

The old saying is the most improvement comes between games 1 and 2. I want to see that.

Overall, from what I saw, was a typical opener. Some bright spots along with plenty to gripe about and plenty of room for improvement.
You might be right. Then again we might have been seeing the struggles of a guy in the first year as a head coach. If we suck next season, then I think we'll see a change.
Do what 18handicap is doing.

He's got the defense playing like Slocum did.
DId we even run any play action at all?
Well it looks like Kash from Texas Tech is coming in and he was the #3 guy in the portal. Earley is going to start hot coming out of the gate it looks like.
So hiring a guy who was national assistant coach of the year in 2018 is a bad thing? It appears that he has a track record of getting the most out of what he has at his disposal. And here, he's going to have a lot to work with.

Timing was the issue. Money will not be. Lots of former players on Twitter indicating this is a very good hire.

I suspect the OU coach will be contacted
Heefner at DBU is another I would call
Wake Forest and UNC coaches as well

Presser was today. I suspect the plan for game 1 is Prager, Cortez, Aschenbeck. Not dissimilar to the approach vs Oregon in game 1.
I think we see Prager Saturday. He started game 1 vs Oregon and I can see Schloss doing the same thing again.
Not only those double headers, there was also a tournament at Spring Break. Teams like Maine, Nebraska, etc would come down and play here during that week.
You left out the 1988 team that went 52-15. Like 1989 that team could hit and also needed a couple of more arms. The 1990 team that went 43-17 had great pitching but couldn't hit. That team didn't make the SWC tournament, having finished 5th, and a good team was left at home.
It's hard to compare teams that are 35 years apart, but I think across the board it is more talented than the '89 team. The biggest difference is the pitching.
Sdao being injured and depriving us of a starting pitcher is a bigger concern.

Kent to 2B and Chestnut to CF were and still are the right moves given Montgomery''s injury.

In Omaha it's going to be Prager and Johnny Fullstaff. Guys further down the pecking order such as Moss and Armstrong may very well have to come on and eat up innings.
