In watching the first half vs. Savannah State, in many ways we look very much like any team with a lot of new faces. Those who think we are looking at the bubble (at best) come March, well I understand why.

First half of first game overreactions:

We won’t have to be completely run and gun, we have some legit big men.

Nebo is mobile and a big body. He’s not as lengthy or quick as Williams, but he’ll be real good.

Mekowulu seems solid.

Walker is way more agile and has more length than he looks. He’ll at least contribute and could be a significant scorer.

Jasey seems like he’s not comfortable in his body, don’t think he plays much again.

Guards:

Starks picks up right where he left off.

Keep waiting for Flagg to break out and he hasn’t. He’ll contribute, but not sure he’ll be the star we were hoping.

Chandler is improved, he’ll be a key player.

Mahan can shoot as expected (50% from 3 last year)

I’ve never had a problem with Will Johnson like most on this board, but he’s hitting the ears poorly this game. Might be changing my opinion on him.

Nebo definitely passes the eye test.

watching jasey really makes me miss tyler davis.

i dont think flagg will ever be what we hope. john walker will probably be more of an impact player

I’m not able to watch the game, but Flagg does have 19 points 13 rebounds and 3 assists on 80% shooting right now.

Flagg ended up with 24 points 16 rebounds and 3 assists on 71.4% shooting. It doesn’t matter who your competition is that’s still a pretty good game.

hes got a high motor and thats encouraging, but hes still so raw. he could probly average 10 and 10 off athleticism alone and thats whats scary.

starks had 9 turnovers in 32 minutes. He played the most so some of that could be because of fatigue.

We’re only a 4 pt. favorite against UC-Irvine which is...depressing to think about.

I love how we totally missed a play because whoever is producing this decided they wanted to focus on billys blank stare on the bench
