Serious question. For a time he had a very competitive program going at Clemson and then it's like they just fell off

Lost Elliot, lost Venables. Now he's an old WR coach in over his head.

He thought he was God's gift to football coaching after having some success with a couple very good QBs and high level coordinators. The NIL/transfer era slapped him back down.

College football changed and he refused to change with it. Thus, he, and Clemson along with him, got left behind.

It’s as simple as that.

Nah. He is getting beat by teams with less money. He just isn't a good coach.

Main thing is NIL and his refusal to adapt. I'm wondering Clemson can compete in the NIL race even. ALabama is probably in the top 10 or so but is still being out spent by LSU, Texas, and the bigger Big 10 schools

Losing Venables . didn't help.

He buried his head in the sand for years and refused to use the portal and NIL and got left behind. Now he has a G5 roster

Serious question ? He couldn't adapt anymore than St. Nick could. For different reasons.

St. Nick did it by stacking four stars, every recruiting cycle. And then making them six stars through a brutal practice scheme that sharpened iron with iron.

Dabo did it by snagging slightly higher players. His teams, when good, were a little more star-studded.

Neither, it turns out, were really all that when the teams were equal.

I can’t lie, I wish every coach and program took the stand he did on NIL etc.

But Clemson is exhibit A for why they haven’t.

He stubbornly refused to embrace the transfer portal and NIL.

He is doing it now, but he is 5 lengths behind where they were

Same as Saban, once everyone could open the pocketbook at will, it was all over.

Tony Elliott and Brent Venables left. Also not having a QB with the talent of Watson/Lawrence.

Dabo wouldn't play the NIL game.

He's highly reliant on assistants and hasn't been able to hire good ones. He is a program manager, not really a coach.

Talent isn't the problem except at QB. They still have top 20 talent on their roster, but play nowhere close to that.

I know it’s fun to shite on Dabo but the man won 2 natties at Clemson and played for another few. Hes a damn good coach just not for this era. Saban also won with better players than everyone else and couldn’t cut it in NIL. Dabo will be on a TV set soon enough though and that’s okay and doesn’t take away from his legacy at all.
