Great pickup. Congrats. He'll be an all sec lineman before it's over.

Nice pick up. If Georgia can get him to play center instead of guard like he wants to, he will be a great one.

They did because they knew he was going to Georgia not because they didn’t want him. Bama takes a lot of OL every year. This kid had a good relationship with Pittman and I think if I read correctly Bama wanted him at center but he wants guard I think. Which I find strange. Wouldn’t Tackle and Center pay more in NFL than Guard? NFL fans would know more than me.

Nothing pays better than tackle, but I think if there is a pay difference in guard and center, it's negligible. The very elite centers get big paydays, sure. Then again, there's also guys who play different spots in the NFL than they did in college.

Tackles and guards are the only ones going in the top 10, mostly tackles but some guards.

No centers go in the top 10 of the draft though.

Alabama hasn't gotten a player from Oxford since Saban has been here and there have been some good ones.

Gotcha thanks. Well if he wants guard then you have to love a kid with self awareness knowing his limitations if he has any. Too many kids want a position they won’t be as successful at due to money or prestige.

He wants to play guard but he would make a tremendous C. Maybe they can convince him to give it a shot.

Bill Curry was the last player taken. (position-center)

just wanted to throw that in.

I hate to lose Clay. Most of the time when an alabama high schcool lineman is the #1 player in the state he's as close to can't miss as they come.

Think it depends on how Trey Hill and Warren Ericcson develop at Center for us. If they can play, we will let Webb do whatever is most comfortable with

I think I read somewhere that Webb is not opposed to playing OC but would start off at OG like Galliard did. Learn the reads and calls then slide over a year or two later

Congrats on the pick up. Webb handled his recruitment in the classiest of ways.

I know....it's extremely frustrating because I want to watch some hometown kids wreck shite at Bama but they always choose to go elsewhere.

I guess Oxford kids are just a short hop down 431 to Auburn.

Webb never really seemed excited about Bama. I had actually heard he told the staff he was leaning UGA a while back, so that they wouldn’t hold a spot or spend a lot of time on him. That’s respectable IMO.

That is like 7 five stars on the OLine next year.

RB's will continue to rack up yardage.

Clay Webb said it straight out of his own mouth in interview post-announcement.

UGA will start Webb out at Guard because it is easier process and, as he gains experience and familiarity, he will likely switch over to Center. Clay just didn't want to start out at Center because you have to know all the line calls and it could be overwhelming - smart on his part to request and get it but Clay seems very comfortable in knowing that his likely final spot will be Center.
