It's one think selling a kid on a position he may fit well at, but doesn't play. It's another when you're offering him way out of position. Not to mention offering relatives and friends scholarships to sign one kid. Alabama dealt with Cal on this shite before.

I agree. Wasn't the guy you're talking about their starting QB last year?

The Cal situation? Keenan Allen was committed to Alabama for months. Then his half-brother wants to transfer to where he's going. Alabama wasn't going to offer a QB that wasn't starting for Buffalo. It cost us a top WR. But that wasn't the end of it. Allen and two teammates, along with his half-brother, ended up at Cal. It was shady all the way around. They wouldn't even talk to BOL, BamaMag, etc., to explain what happened.

...and the situation went WAAAAAY deeper than Keenan and Maynard, Cal hired his position coach who had been suspended in another state and booted from 2 other schools, he latched on and became the family's "handler" Otis Yelverton is his name, he called the staff about a month from NSD I believe if I remember and asked for a number of things to secure Allen, namely that he be hired on staff and Saban told him to frick off, the next day Allen decommited, and the Maynard situation reared it's ugly head, but it was just smoke screen. Saban was willing to let Maynard walk on and compete, and Cal abliged to every request Yelverton made, he even moved in with the parents or something crazy like that when they moved across the country to Cali. The whole situation was ridiculous though Grrrrr

And the other crazy situation regarding not doing any interviews was Shane I think or one of the old Rivals writers went to his announcement and after he announced, they took questions and he started to ask what made you change your mind and before he could get it out Otis Y. Who was there with the family asked if he was a writer for Bama and told some staff members at the HS to "get his arse outta here" also interesting that the head coach didn't go to any of those kids commitments or the signings it was Otis

I remember that scene. There was video evidence of what Yelverton was saying to them. Our Rivals and Scout site was there. I think the Birmingham News may have sent someone too. They were all made to leave.

Ridiculous and regardless of the CyKo situation, Calloway situation, and Yeldon situation, it was by far and away the weirdest recruiting situation I have ever seen under Saban and honestly I've never seen Saban and staff not just give up on a recruit but totally despise and loathe him by the time NSD came around, he tried to call Saban several times after NSD and he wouldn't answer and ordered the staff to do the same.

That probably had more to do with the fact that that kid has violations written all over him than any personal ill will from Saban.

I still remember after a game last yr, don't remember which, Eli was doing postgame interviews and as a player was getting situated, a coach in the background was heard saying, tell him it's too late, he had his chance, referring to a recruit. Would like to have known who that was.

Alot of speculation pointed towards Kwon Alexander being the prospect the coach was referring to.

I thought he was waiting on an Alabama offer? I thought for sure he'd commit there if given a solid offer...

You could tell he wasn't going to Auburn. It was between LSU and Bama the entire time. You have to hate that an entire family would push a guy away from a college like that.

Has anyone seen all the trouble Saleem Rasheed has found himself in? He was found guilty of food stamp fraud by claiming a woman was his legal wife on the forms. Now he is being accused of sex with a minor at the school he's teaching/coaching at. Hard to believe he's hit rock bottom after a NFL career. He was one of my favorite LBs at Alabama.

Tunsil hasn't narrowed his list, but has a top five of Florida, Georgia, UA, LSU, and Oklahoma. You have to like Florida's chances with UGA feeling good as well. It's also worth noting Tunsil has ties to Louisiana and finds that attractive as it relates to LSU.
