Not from Herbie. Chatter coming from Alabama fans who say they are close to program. TIFWIW.

Saban

A lot of chatter going around that he has signed extension to stay at Alabama.
Alabama is very sound and probably one of the best coached teams around in terms of gap assignment and edge containment. They tackle very well and they can confuse QB's with their checks and changes.

Things simply change for your team offensively when you play Alabama. Yeah it sounds good to think you're going to have some success and you probably will here and there. But overall your offensive will take a dip in some fashion.

Alabama is the only SEC defense to hold Miss St to one score

Alabama outscored A&M 42-7 at one point. I do not think another defense this year will do that to them.

Alabama held Ole Miss scoreless which I do not think will happen again this season by any other team.

No other team has held Arkansas scorless

Not necessarily. I personally believe Bama's defense isn't as good.

Dude atleast be realistic. You really believe the 2010 Alabama defense is better than this years defense. Mark Baron was the only experienced player in the secondary. Dareus and Upshaw were both hampered by injuries the whole year. Hightower was not in great shape his first year after his 2009 season ending injury.

I love the willful ignorance.

If you beat 4 crappy teams by 1 point on a last second FG or in OT it says a lot about your team vs. beating those same 4 crappy teams by 30.

Sure, the record is 4-0 in both cases, but it ain't the damn same when it comes to predicting the future.

This. See ND from last year. They had fans really expecting to play a good game against Alabama. The rest of the world knew what was coming.
Yes it's too early, but yes Alabama will beat AU handedly. I think AU has a good running game and they have a solid defense line rotation. I just do not think they are going to be able to pass the ball well enough to cause a threat against Alabama. I also do not think their play at linebacker is good enough to stop Alabama's run game.

I hear people say AU is getting better and I agree, but Alabama is getting better as well. The simple fact of adding a healthy Amari Cooper to that team makes it very difficult to defeat them. They will continue to get better as players like OJ Howard and Landon Collins feel more comfortable in their roles.

Bama's cupcake schedule coming home to roost 11/9.

But you lost to Ole Miss though :dunno:
AU has a power running game it's looks different and atleast start off looking different.

This is really no different than the people who still think Alabama is all power running. They can pass the ball just as well.
I've been away for a while. LSU fans still crying. ok.... Be back next month.

I have a hard enough time keeping up with Arkansas' players so I sure don’t have the time, or the interest, in keeping up with other team's players. If someone answers a simple question I have no reason, or the time, to validate.

Dalvin Tomlinson. He was the first DE off the bench and was very impressive in the first game before his season ending injury. Alabama fans heard a lot about Tomlinson last year regarding how well he was performing in practice so it wasn't a surprised to see him play well in the first game. His injury was disappointing but he's going to be a good player.
Please stop. Everyone knows Alabama doesn't need a spy to beat Ole Miss. Ole Miss had around the same amount of yards this year as they did last year.

that D was stout in 2011...like you said I see 2 or 3 potential sunday players...CJ and HAHA maybe belue but other than that...not real sure

HaHa, Mosely, Hubbard, Pagan, and Stinson all are NFL players.

Don't get me wrong, I wished that he choose LSU but he didn't and that is fine, it is his choice to go where he wants.

But it's sounding like he is really being very immature right now and buring all of his bridges in La.

He better hope he never tears a knee up and has to come home and work at the A&P.

Sad. :wah:

you should have left that part off there... because JM got more yards on us in that game than ANY game ever, which absolutely leaves us up to fair criticism.

but the truth is in the middle, like normal. they can dissuade themselves about our D all they want into believing it sucks. but deep down everyone knows it was just a high octane / emotional / crazy game, and our D will prove itself the rest of this season to any doubters.

honestly, it's best people have the perception that it's NOT as good. better to be under-estimated than over-estimated.

I agree the criticism is fair because of the yardage, but a lot of people would not have even thought about the yardage if that game ended 49-28. The talk would be Alabama defense gave up some plays to Manziel, but got the stops when needed and how it's hard to stop A&M.
Once again people are overreacting to the defense just as they did about the offense in the 1st game against VaTech.

Alabama played a top 3 offense in the country on the road with a Heisman trophy winner at QB. You don't peel off 35 unanswered points against an offense like that if you have a horrible defense. You don't hold a offense like that to only 7 points in 2 1/2 quarters if you have a bad defense. I think people would be looking at that game very different if it wasn't for the Yeldon fumble. But please go ahead and believe what you like.

Pagan and Stinson are probably the best DE duo we've had in terms of making plays in the backfield. Alabama has a ton or pass rushers in Pagan, Stinson, Dickson, Hubbard, Devall, Tomlinson, and Anderson. That's not even counting the freshman who have looked good early in Robinson and Allen. LaMichael Fanning also has received praise from Saban as far as rushing from the inside.

I doubt you'll see many sane Bama fans predicting a blowout now. Many of us are pretty worried about this game. I still think we win, but my confidence has definitely taken a blow.

My confidence is still about the same. I've seen Alabama too many times play a top ranked team like monsters and then all of a sudden struggle offensively against a lesser opponent. They destroy Clemson and then struggle to move the ball against Tulane only to play UGA and play fine. They struggle against Kent State but then turn around and play well on the road against Penn State. They destroy Michigan but then all of a sudden give up six sacks against Western Kentucky.

They could very well have problems but I'm not buying until I see it against a team that will pose a serious threat. Plus it was the first game and VaTech did some nice scheming defensively of their own.

31-20 Bama.

It wasn't a headshot.

He didnt lead with his head.

He didn't launch himself.

By rule, the player he hit wasn't defenseless.

The ball was still in play and thus it was not a late hit.

He didn't taunt him afterwards.

Please, enlighten me oh guru of the gridiron.

I agree. I think it leaves a little too much judgment to the ref. I think all hits like that on WR are going to be called.
