I am assuming that an early announcement is a good thing for us?

None of the staff has weighed in on it on BOL. Some of the better posters over there thinks it's good for us because it sounds like he has had his mind made up for a while. I'll keep watching the thread and see if any of them chime in.

That's what the comments in the article lead me to believe. It sounded like he knew where he wanted to go before going on his visits, and the visits were just set up so he could be 100% certain and see what all is out there.

This was in an article they posted tonight before the announcement date came out:

Tim Watts

quote:

"Alabama is in outstanding shape for Nkemdiche and I think other schools like Georgia and Clemson are trying to play catch-up right now," said Watts. "Nkemdiche reminds me a lot of Reggie White who was freakishly athletic for his size. Nkemdiche plays a lot at tailback for his high school squad and they don't just power him straight ahead. He also gets the ball on sweeps."

Also on Dee Liner:
quote:

Alabama could also turn in-state for the four-star defensive lineman Dee Liner, an Auburn commit who openly admits to having the Tide high on his list.

"Liner is the most compact kid of those three," said Watts. "He is ranked as the the top prospect in the state by 247Sports and is at the very least one of the top players depending on your opinion of O.J. Howard and a few others.

"Right now, Liner remains an Auburn commit but has taken visits to Alabama and been up and down with his interest in them over the past few months. I think Liner likes the 3-4 defense of Alabama and they way Dareus and Jesse Williams have been highlighted in recent years in the system."

It may just be me but reading his comments about that LSU in that article and that he's deciding to make an early commitment don't make me very pleased.

That is what I got out of it as well. I think he commits to Bama, but I do not see him actually ending his recruitment.

I like our odds if he commits early to us. Unless a long lost brother comes out of the woodwork, ala. Kennan Allen, his recruitment would be over for all intents and purposes.

VH3 is going to USF, unless his father leaves. Bama is a nice 3rd place team though.

Just remember, if Nkemdiche picks Bama, it's only because his HC pushed him there and Bama did nothing to land him.

He says he will be back at LSU very soon. Whatever the hell that means. Could mean an official in the fall or another unofficial in the next two months. Hell if I know.

ALSO FWIW frick the AJC

I agree Memphis F*CK AJC BASTIDS. Putting UGA & Ole Miss, LSU in that survey, then not Bama but "Nick Saban" LoL butthurtness is EPIC!

He will likely visit at least Bama and UGA and I guess LSU for Spring practice although didn't LSU have some Spring practices this weekend while he was there. Always thought LSU had a better chance than most thought with him, but it is a VERY good sign for Bama that he says he's ready to pick and set a date, my guess, he will visit Bama with Foster, maybe Kamara (might get an offer we will see) and question is with Hargraves whether UF or Bama offers Dad a job don't put it past Muschamp

ESPNU 150 Watch List safety Su’a Cravens has close to 40 scholarship offers, so it’s not that big of a deal when he picks up a new one. That wasn’t the case when the University of Alabama offered him a scholarship last month. The offer from the Crimson Tide caught his attention

quote:

“I was real excited because I just received a scholarship from the best team in the nation,” Cravens said. “They’re the best team in the SEC, and the SEC is one of the toughest, maybe the toughest conference in college football.

quote:

“That’s really big for me. That tells me that they’re serious, and they play on a giant platform in college football. An NFL coach coaches up there, and they prepare people for the NFL. There’s nothing not to like about Alabama.”

Technically you're only third best in the SEC if you go by recent standings. Still first in the nation, but 3rd in the SEC is indisputable.

They were ok.

I haven't been since 08 tbh. Do they still have the hippos and elephants in those shitty concrete exhibits?

Yeah.

What did you not like?

I just wasn't impressed overall. The new Teton Range exhibit was pretty cool with the Grizzlies and Wolves, but other than that it just looked kinda outdated.
