It still seems odd to me that Tua had to sit out a play considering he was hurt on a non-play.

As I was watching I kept thinking:
Lia -> B. Sims
PT -> Coker

If ever there were a year to play 2 OOC P5 games, it would be next year. The trouble is there’s know way of knowing how many SEC teams are going to be down 2-3 years down the road when scheduling OOC games. About half of our conference opponents are in rebuilding mode.

Here’s a crazy stat. Bo actually had the 2nd most catches on the team behind Ridley despite having the lowest ypc. We kept trying that swing out pass to him every game despite the fact it rarely produced. I’m sure the thinking was get it to Bo in the flats and all he has to do is run over/around 1 guy and it’s a big gain. Problem was he wasn’t able to get past the 1st guy.

I believe he has 1 more year. Could be in the OLB rotation with Jennings, Miller, and Lewis.
I thought we had one LB healthy the whole year

Jamey Mosley. Apparently not:
“Successful surgery yesterday! Thanks to everyone for all of the prayers! What a year! What a team! On to the next one. #Roadto18 ?????????”
Amazing what this team accomplished with the injuries the LB group sustained. Pruitt and Lupoi deserve a lot of credit.

My thoughts too, TS. That’s where Bo really made a name for himself in ‘16, as the closer. Just wasn’t effective this year in an expanded role. I feel like we left yards and points off the board by not giving DH and NH more touches. But I wish him well at the next level. He’s a physical freak so maybe he can find a role.
re: 2017 Alabama in the record books thread (*FINAL - UPDATED POST-UGA*)

I’m a stats nerd so I enjoy checking this thread every week too. I know a lot of it has to do with changes in the game, but it’s amazing how Bama’s record books have been re-written under CNS. It’s not like we had bad teams and players the 100 years before CNS.
I’m hoping D. Harris has a big year next year and moves up the list. I feel like our rushing game was at its best in ‘09 when we had real defined roles for the RBs: Ingram - lead, Trent - every third series, Upchurch - passing down. I’d like to see that this year with DH, NH, and JJ with some extra snaps/packages for a healthy JJ. Obviously we’re expecting a more dynamic passing game next year than we had in ‘09 but that doesn’t mean the ‘09 formula for the run game can’t work.
Darby and Yeldon came up short in their bids for 3 seasons of 1,000 yards. Hopefully Damien will fare better.

re: edit (GMAC)-- it was an incredibly difficult throw
Posted by sarc on 1/9/18 at 4:01 pm
It’s not so much that he looked off the safety. The next level attribute was how quickly he made the throw after the look off. There was absolutely no hesitation, no delay to verify Smith was open. He started the throwing motion as he brought his head around. Like GMAC said, he just had a sense of where Smith was and executed accordingly without hesitation with the game was on the line. That’s a rare thing.
While we’re 2nd guessing...

I can’t help but thinking:
Thompson > Hootie
Leatherwood > Jonah at LT (could’ve moved Jonah to RT where he’s great)
Najee > Bo
Young players really stepped up huge tonight. Not sure I’ve seen anything like it.

Did he not poach DeMarcus Walker last time he departed Bama? Might not seem like a big deal, but it’s supposedley an unwritten rule that you don’t poach committed prospects from the school you’re leaving
re: Low class move by Kirby

I have a hard time believing that happened because if it did I doubt we’d be letting Pruitt coach because he’s in position to do the exact same thing. I would think we would have instituted a policy where the coordinator is escorted out of the facility as soon as they accept a job elsewhere. It may seem cold but it happens in the corporate world everyday.
re: Is there any method to our RB by committee madness?
Posted by sarc on 11/26/17 at 10:35 am
I was thinking the same thing this morning. If we were following the pattern that worked well from 08-12 then Harris would be our lead back, Bo would get every 3rd series, and Jacobs would be the 3rd down back.
I don’t understand our rotation this year and I think it contributes greatly to our lack of an offensive identity.

Not a bad little run.
Through all the weekly trials and tribulations it’s good to take a step back and appreciate what we, as fans, have been fortunate enough to be a part of.

re: Predict rushing yds for the following: Hurts, Bo, Najee and D. Harris.

Yeah most everyone seemed to be sleeping on DH but I kinda understand it too. He’s not the biggest or the fastest, he doesn’t have a signature move like a spin or hurdle. He also failed to impress his frosh year and that 1st impression can be difficult to overcome in fans’ minds.
If DH can keep up this level and we start to get Bo going and we start to mix in JJ effectively, then we could start seeing some really absurd rushing numbers down the stretch.

First of all: :nana:
I agree with this and I'm as big of a JK fan as there is. Hasn't quite mastered that skill the way NFL punters have. He's actually better at pinning teams inside the 10 when he's on Bama's side of the 50 than on the opponent's side.

He could stand to work on his short to midrange kicking game when he has to put it near the goal line. Too many touchbacks for a great punter.

How well has the Big 12 faired getting teams in the playoffs without a conference title game? That 13th game can just as easily help your cause as it can hurt it.
If the PAC 12 didn't have a CCG, they probably wouldn't have a team in the playoff.
