Pensacola is close to the beach, so you have my opinion...

Either way, you're in good shape.

But it would be the beach during the fall, and a lesser football player. It's my home, but Oxford is my hometown.

Not that the beach has been good to me recently, I have the worst luck. Sand rashes, sun burns, jellyfish stings, ray cuts, and seaweed. I just just plain don't like seaweed...

It's not like Pensacola is a great beach or anything either

Beaches are beaches unless it's a black sand or nice stone beach.

Granted my only experiences with beaches are there, Gulf Shores, Holden Beach, and somewhere I can't remember in San Diego.

I think living by it too long made it lose some mystique that it use to. Beach use to be a vacation, not somewhere you could get in 5 minutes...

I disagree. You can drive on Daytona beach it's so solid. In fact that's where they used to have the races.

My dad is a huge racing fan, so I knew that

I guess I'm just not a big beach person, I like the cold and being up on the mountains. Renting a cabin up in Pigeon Forge use to be so cool as a kid...

Exactly the same for me. My family has rented a cabin in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge 3 times, I like it alot more than the beach

*** Much has been made of word from Nick Saban that Duron Carter's suspension will continue into spring drills, and many have asked if rumors of his Alabama career being all but over are true. According to one source close to the team, no firm decision on the part of the UA staff has been made about Carter's future. The notion that Carter's return to good standing with the team is going to be a challenge for Carter should come as a surprise to no one. But the chance, however slim, most definitely remains. It is up to Carter.

*** Look for Blake Sims to work with the running backs Friday when practice opens, but as mentioned in a previous post, his days working as a change-up option at quarterback may not be done. Word is, ball security issues contributed to his return to running back from quarterback during fall camp last year. Sims is regarded as one of the top overall athletes on the roster, and his skills with ball in hand have been prolific at times in practice. This will be something to keep an eye on when UA returns to spring drills after spring break.

*** Couple of quick final notes on Pro Day ... Although an official time wasn't published on NFL.com like some others, word is Jerrell Harris' 40 times were 4.67 and 4.70, which, like Brad Smelley are also better than the early, unofficial reports. Like I've said for a couple of years now, I think Jerrell Harris has an NFL future even if it's just as a special teams guy, and his athleticism is the reason why. ... Juniors who aren't coming out early also run 40s for the NFL scouts on Pro Day, although their results aren't made public. According to one source, UA linebacker Nico Johnson turned in a 4.60 when he ran, an outstanding time for an ILB of his size. If Johnson turns in a similar time a year from now at Pro Day, he'll be in good shape.

I had a crazy dream last night. Saban told me if I come to camp this summer, they will offer me for my last two years of eligibility. That's weird because I graduated in 09 and am 25. I don't think I have any eligibility left.

Definitely go watch Reuben. Dejon plays on such a sucky team that he isn't able to make a lot of plays. They had him play 5 different positions when I watched and he didn't get to do much.. If he transfers to Pine Forest, Pensacola High, or Catholic then definitely go see him.

Lot of rumors around out there about Artie Burns possibly entertaining offers from Miami and Florida State.

Tim Watts from BOL said he recruitment is far from over FWIW.

I know his family wants him to stay home and play for Miami.

I would love to keep the Miami pipeline going, and have a presence at Northwestern, but there are plenty of tremendous CB prospects lining up in the 2013 class for Alabama.
